I had him for Foundations and he's an incredible professor IF YOU DO THE WORK. He respects you if you answer him when he asks the class questions, show up on time, and perform well on his exams. He goes off topic sometimes and enjoys talking about politics and religion, but when he talks about the subject he's very informed and can be quite funny.

I must admit, that when I first started this class I thought Dr. Surrency was gonna eat me for breakfast. But, I was wrong. He is really a nice man. He just expects you to be responsible,be on time, and cares if you pass!I enjoyed this class so much, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to conquer their fear of speaking in public!

He is the kind of professional that scares students away and hurt the good name of a good institution. He is disrespectful, arrogant, a liar and apparently is working just to fill his hours before retire. I reported him to his supervisor at FCCJ Kent Campus. Dr. Surrency knows what he is talking about when it comes to Hum2020 but not when it comes to life. Every question you ask, he makes you feel stupid. For example a girl in my class asked a good question and he said " well you think you are smarter then me why don't you come up here and teach the class. Ohh thats right you are too stupid".

I'm so glad to see others who appreciate Dr. Surrency. He is strict but you'll actually learn from him. Get to class five minutes ahead of time, listen, be polite, do your work and you'll be fine. Don't take this professor if you want to act like you're still in high school. He is one of the best professors I have had.

I have had alot of good teachers and Dr. Surrency is certainly one of them. He is not the kind of teacher that takes any crap from anyone. He tells you how he feels and why he feels it. He expects nothing less than the best. If you want a teacher that actually teaches take him.

I took Mr. Surrency's egyptian,roman,and greek mythology humanities course recently and the content of the class was excellent,but the teaching style that is being used is aweful.Contradicts himself thoughout the semester,very meticulous about things that dont matter ;but he does wish the best for his students,A LOT could be changed for the better.

All you guys on here are just mad because he wouldn't let you take over his class, like some of these other weasel professors do. He is a wealth of information and anytime I give a speech, my other professors want to know who taught me how to speak, I proudly say Dr. Surrency.

Hard teacher... Must Come to class. Listen and stay quite. Don't talk in class, or He will move your set. I learn alot, but i had to work very hard to pass his test. Quiz are hard too. He will pick one sentence out of the reading for the quiz, and you have to know it.

Im not the type to just bad talk a teacher for the heck of it. But I must admit, I wish I'd taken another professor. Prof.Surrency does get off topic a lot and spends a lot of time talking about subjects not related to the discussion. If you do decide to take his class, don't be late or absent, don't talk. Just do all homework and you will survive!

I took his class last semester and I must agree with most of the other post here. He likes to hear what is coming out of his mouth more than anything. He is extremely arrogant and has a tendency to be very rude and condescending to students. I am a professional and I did not like the fact that I was using my lunch break to listen to him talk.

At first I hated him. I thought he was such an *** and hated everyone. After the first couple of weeks it wasn't so bad. I made an A in the class and it was pretty easy as long as you gave a good speech. He only singled out those students who were trouble makers and gave him a hard time or were consistently late. I would take him again.
