psyc375: sociopolitics of race--one of the best professors at Oxy. you need to take prof rodriguez if you're interested in anything related to social science and/or race & ethnicity studies. she's so knowledgeable, yet so relatable and down to earth. she fights for justice & cares for her students' wellbeings. thank you prof rodriguez!!!

She expects a lot from you. I was really sick when I took her class, and I do not think she was a sympathetic as she could or should have been. However, the material is very interesting and she does explain it clearly. Not sure if I would recommend.

I took her psych 101 class. She's extremely engaging and hilarious, and her lectures are really interesting. There's daily reading, but it's manageable. However the tests cover a ton of material and she's an extremely hard grader. You really need to work for your grade. Despite that, the class was really great and I would definitely recommend it.

AMST295: Sociopolitics of Race. She's difficult because she believes in her students. She adjusts her course to make it inclusive & tailors it to students. She fights for justice with and for her students. Defining features: naming dynamics, challenging, resilience, hope, love, giving. Take her courses if you're ready for a life-altering experience

Made me work my tail off, but well worth it. One of the most insightful professors I have had. If you are a psych major, definitely take a class with her when you can.

My only note is that sometimes she makes inappropriate comments. Once, she used other psych professors as an example and talked about how she thought there was a lot of sexual tension between them. It was uncomfortable hearing a teacher suggest that they needed to relieve themselves.

Prof. Rodriguez is the most honest and empathetic professor at Occidental College. She works extremely hard with little help or appreciation. She is kind and overly available to students. She expects a lot because she believes in her students. She works to be equitable and inclusive and is a constant source of generosity and hope.

& 490------Hands down fav prof @Oxy. She provides a lot of dense, educational readings that you MUST READ or you'll be lost in class. All you mainly do is discuss/teach in her class. She is always available for office hours, and is the nicest, caring lady ever. She may seem intimidating, but she's just straight with you. i loved both of her classes

They say the dialogue class fosters discussion, debate, and critical thinking. That's an enormous load of bull. The class is, at its best, a cathartic therapy session, and at its worst, an exercise in regurgitating political correctness. I'm not a conservative, just a critical thinker, and I will never take a class in this dept. again.

Took Prof. Rodriguez class twice while at Oxy. The first time it was with her and Prof. Newhall as part of core group. Both of these two opened my eyes. But Rodriguez is tough and makes you think. Your involvement in class (and grade for that matter) is huge if it makes sense and stimulating. Her and Newhall are the jewels of Oxy hands down!
