I really appreciate Dr Low, but she probably isn't for everybody. She won't tolerate any nonsense and she won't try to be your buddy; but it's clear that she cares deeply about sociology, and she explains fairly complex concepts in a way that's easy to understand. If you take the class seriously and you want to learn you'll likely have a good time.

You have to make sure you copy down what she says and get a clear understanding. She is very willing to give examples and repeat what she has said to help you. Sometimes she seemed a little cranky, but she is nice overall. Likes to play videos for the class, which is nice.

She was one of the worst profs I've ever had in all of the schooling years. In a graduate seminar, she was rude, dismissive and unapproachable to the whole class. Even causing one girl to cry she was so unnecessarily harsh. Asked students to critique a paper she wrote but couldn't handle anything anyone said. I would avoid her at all costs.

AVOID AT ALL COST a B- is a 60-64 which is low because if not everyone would fail!! She is an extremely hard grader if you don't repeat her words for exact you don't pass. Also be sure to explain everything even if it is not asked. Unapproachable, controlling, wears the same outfit every day, and her ability to grade you is her power over you.

I had a wonderful experience as a graduate student in Dr. Low's class. She really helps students think outside the parameters of their usual daily lives and learning. I found this course to be a transformative learning experience.

She's a tough grader, but she tells you exactly what's going to be on the mid-term and final. She also lets you pick which questions you want to answer. The essay for the course was an "analytic film review" and I had never written one before so I was unsure what she was looking for. But, overall I liked her course.

Probably the most pedantic professor I've ever had. Everything you write must be exactly how she wants it worded. Marks quite difficultly (although she denies that) and provides little justification for why you've lost marks. Seems to have a bit of a superiority complex. Would avoid her course unless necessary, total GPA sinker.

I would be very intimidated having Dr. Low as a first year Prof. She does not give much room for your opinions on the material covered in class; and unless you quote verbatim on papers and exams you will not get a good mark. I found the topic interesting, but would not take her classes again; GPA killer.

She has a bit of a superiority complex. two students got up to use that bathroom and she paused class to tell us that "just because we were done discussing, doesn't mean you can leave class". Their stuff was clearly still there. marked students wrong when they were right. Avoid unless necessary.

She is a ridiculously hard marker for no reason. If you have a question she makes you feel dumb. If you email her a question she will accuse you of not coming to class. If you're midterm doesn't say exactly what's on her slides, it's a 0.. No part marks.

J. Low's Social Problems class was really tough. Her lectures were really hard to follow. She is a nice lady though and gives you help, though sometimes she has a tendency to make students look stupid when they askanswer questions. She is generous, if you work hard it will pay off. I won a Tims card for participation and I asked like 2 questions!

Unreasonably hard marker. She is not approachable whatsoever and should not be teaching first year classes. Exerts her power over students and looks down upon them. Boring, monotone voice used while lecturing. Would not recommend her class to anyone. It's profs like her that harm UNB's reputation.

HORRIBLE! She is a domineering, power-hungry, control-freak who disrespects students and purposely marks them -low- if you say something she doesn't like or you don't bow to every theory she stands by and whatever you do, do NOT bring religion into the equation or she will reign fire down upon you by using her 'power' to low-ball your marks.

If you attend class and take notes you will be pleased. She is a wonderful professor who speaks clearly and effectively and is very approachable. She provides a thorough preparation for the mid term/exam and all of her expectations are communicated. If you are a student that misses class more than you attend, this may not be a class/prof for you.

She should not be teaching undergrads if not at all. It seems like she knows her material well, but very awkward socially. Does not seem like a very happy person. Maybe she makes herself feel better by criticizing the students or something, I don't know. Not open to discussing problems, definitely don't question the material in class.

Sociology of Health, Illness, and Medicine in Canada. It sounds interesting and probably would be if someone else was teaching it. I do not understand what her problem is, but she belittle's anyone who asks questions. I believe she knows her stuff well, but she is definitely not supposed to be in the classroom. Very, very poor teaching skills.

Prof has a superiority complex. Her way or the highway. Will not allow critical thought. Only allows one perspective. If you are a masochist, take your class.
