Comment:
He is a great teacher, very clear in terms of lecture material. He does care a lot about details in terms of the written response, because he is an excellent writer himself. Great guy to talk to, and he tries hard to help students (courses, life, other stuff). Get to know him!

Comment:
Very pretentious, and as someone else mentioned here, he refers to himself in the third person... he looks for every way possible to deduct marks from students. His test questions are never on the actual material relevant to the course, it's always some side story he told! Hated him.

He's a really harsh marker, gives very little part marks too. However, he and Turcotte are by far the best professors in this class. Apart from the harsh grading, he is perfectly clear to the point and intelligent. For that, he has my respect.

Extremely pompous!!! No matter how much you study for his section he will find tons of marks to deduct! Make sure you read the book!

This class is the worst class I've had to take so far. Coulton does his best to try and make the material interesting by bringing in examples from the real world. Most of the stuff I learned I had already learned in a previous class. Keep on top of the material and for his quizzes make sure you write *complete sentences* or he will take off marks.

I think he is an excellent guide for scientific thinking. In several conversations with him I have discovered that while there is a certain amount of course material that needs to be covered, he is actually far more interested in cultivating scientific thinking in the minds of students.

This was supposed microbiology class, not a highschool english class. He's testing us on our writing skills and yet he can't even TALK in proper sentences!!! This guy refers to himself in the third person, I think that speaks for itself.

Almost half our marks come from how we write. You know what? That's not what it says in the course description! He expects you to write well in less than 50 minutes - I wonder if it takes him that long to write a perfect paper? In the real world, he gets to edit and proofread his papers, so I don't know what he's trying to prove by punishing us...

Ok, he's not a horrible lecturer, but he is a horrible Professor. I'm sorry, but don't say we can't write "science" when he can't write questions that he said more than "4 sentences" about or that has relevance to the course. Tigrrrrrrrrr! I'd avoid if possible, if you want fairness and to learn something.

His slides are very dry (only black and white words), and his lectures were not entertaining but bearable. He doesn't really care about his students as he told us that he couldn't put his slides up before a 12:30 class because he "Starts making them at 12 O'clock noon." This class is probably the least interesting MIMM class that you can take.
