Great guy, but absolutely a boring guy. I made the mistake and took his lecture at 8:00 AM, every day, and it was brutal. I didn't go to many lectures, and basically taught myself Chem. He basically reads a powerpoint and goes... really.... really... slowly. Most people didn't go to many lectures; they're not needed. Homework is online

Comment:
Dittami teaches you the material well and he is very easy. The one big flaw is his lectures are very boring. You may not have a fun time but you will learn the stuff and get an A so long as you put in some small amount of work. He's also a very nice and funny guy and gives some extra credit. Take if you need chem but it's not relevant to your major

Pace of the class is very manageable compared to other classes at wpi. tests were very similar to practice exams and gives an exam handout that is more than sufficient. If you took high school chemistry you'll get an A no doubt.

Comment:
Would be a rough class if you've never taken chem before. Otherwise it's an easy A. Lectures are basically powerpoints-which are helpful but not particularly interesting. Homework and tests are reasonable and straightforward. He doesn't require much memorization (he gives reference sheets), which might leave you unprepared for future chem classes.

Hates his job and hates being in lecture and makes sure you hate being there too. Doesn't give you your tests back or have office hours. Completely unhelpful when you ask a question and most boring professor I have ever had. Could be a good professor if he cared about his students.

Comment:
His lectures are long and monotonous, but he give lots of examples, which are helpful if you've never taken chem before. If you took AP chem, then this class will be a breeze for you, but also super boring. The online homeworks have multiple attempts & the lowest one is dropped, which is nice. The midterm & final exams are easily manageable.

He is an overall respectful and kind teacher. Yes, his lectures are boring, but he does many examples and is very clear with his teaching. He encourages you to ask questions in class and go for extra help. There aren't many tests, but they are relatively easy. If you have taken Chem in high school, easy A or B. If not, you may have to work for it.

Class is boring, tests are way more difficult than they need to be. Avoid this guy, he's probably the worst orgo professor at this school. Don't take his class unless absolutely necessary.

Easy subject matter, so easy tests. He clearly is very passionate about Organic Chem, but this is a really easy introduction course that I don't think he is passionate about.

Oh. My. God. His lectures are so boring. But it's easy to get an A. Pretty much sums everything. Well, he has knowledge but he is not good at teaching. You wake up hard to attend his class at 8 AM and end up sleeping again in his class. Weird? Yes.

If you took AP chem in high school this class will be a breeze. Seeing chem for the second time makes it so much easier. He isn't a great teacher so if you're learning chem for the first time I would take it with someone else. He is confusing and makes a lot of mistakes when he is doing problems at the board. Easy class if you have a background.

He reads his notes from his powerpoint word for word. The class is not engaging enough for an 8am. I almost fell asleep too many times. The class is really easy though, it is all review from high school chem.

Very good professor for chem 1. It can be hard to get help from him, but his notes and assignments were very organized. I recommend him for this class.

Professor Dittami was great for CH 1010! He made things very clear and articulated well. The material he taught in class was what appeared on the tests, and he is willing to answer questions. I highly recommend him!

Best chem professor I've ever had. He explained well, was easy to understand, never made a mistake in his board work. He told us exactly what was on the tests and did in class review. Easiest A I've ever gotten and hardly showed up to the lectures choosing to view them online. Tests were easy multiple choice where work was required in a few of them

He's a great professor! He does expect you to do work on your own, which is why other people probably don't like him. Don't be lazy, you're a WPI student.

Dittami is a very nice person! His lectures were not the most exciting, but he did everything to help students. We had an online quiz every week, which we could check all of our notes. His actual tests were much easier than the quizzes, and he let us come in 6:45am to have a lot of time to take the test (until 9am). Definitely take him for CH1010.

My god. This is by far the worst professor. He acts nice in class but is not willing to help you out of the classroom and his notes and slides are terrible. He is extremely bad at explaining. He obviously doesn't care for the people paying his salary lol

He's an overall nice guy. However, his notes and explanations aren't very clear. And his office is in Gateway Park which isn't on campus so getting extra help is difficult.
