Class is 2.5 hrs long and at night, its not offered any other time and is mandatory for ENV students. Most of the class is spent listening to him lecture non-stop while you try to keep up with notes.

I would not recommend this class. I'm sure Dr. German is a nice guy, and he does love what he does, but his teaching styles are not effective. His own aim is to have a conversation with the class, but it isn't easy to do so with 140+ students. It's A LOT of work, and the new grading method is kind of ridiculous. If you don't have to, don't take it.

The worst class I have ever taken! but honestly I would take his class than the other professors class (Clark) Germans work load is much easier and he is not as crazy as Clark. If you don't have to take this class... DON'T!!!!!!

Take your AH class with someone else. Although he's funny, the class is completely un-organized and he couldn't care less about answering students questions.

I liked him as a profesor I took survey of american history with him. His lectures are sometimes boring but, not to bad. You have a paper and quiz every week. For the papers he usually talks enough in class to right a paper about that subject. Id recommend this class

Dr. German is awful. This course is way too difficult for students, considering most of them are only taking it for a gen ed requirement. He never knows the answers to questions asked in class, and his TA's are rude and inconsistent with their grading. I don't recommend this course to any student. Pathetic excuse for a professor, really!

Grades his 120 class like it's a graduate seminar, oversteps his bounds when most of the people in the class are taking it out of necessity for gen ed requirements.

German is an absolutely terrible professor. He gives WAY to much work for an 100 level class. Do not take a class with him. He also fancies kicking kids out of his class, even when they are not doing anything wrong. The worst.

He's a terrible professor, if that's what you even want to call him. His ULA's and TA does all the work for him. He's rude to his students and criticizes their work when he's not even the one reading or grading it. Don't take a class with him.

Very tough grader and expects alot from the students. Articles that we read for class are really long (shortest one was about 10 pages) and sometimes hard to understand and write about.

Neither the professor nor the course were my cup of tea. I really just took this class to get an easy 'AH' credit. The work load is too much for a 100 level US History class, but just do it and get through. I got an "S." Will never take a class with German again-- he's very arrogant.

There is alot of reading in ENVR310 and alot of discussion on the text. The tests are basically were 5 short answer questions, but as long as you supported your answer you did well. Pretty funny professor, made the 2.5 hour class go pretty fast.

In Hist 295 also known as the Death Star I don't think that best of Dr. German was shown. For that class he didn't write his own lectures or do much of anything. Also, he needs to shave his beard! He looks like a hippie!

I hated this professor. I e-mailed him 18 times over the semester and I never got a response back. It's so sad that the ULA's have to do all of the work..seriously, who is getting paid to be there?

Dr. German is the most incredible teacher at SUNY Postdam! I would highly recommend taking any of his classes. His tests are applicable and are formated well. His anecdotes made it easier to learn the info. and the time flew by.

Dr. German is an amazing professor. He is my favorite person at Potsdam because of his sense of humor and his great teaching style. I learned a lot in his classes- not just a bunch of facts, but more meaningful concepts and trends in history. And he's not bad to look at...!
