Giles is an amazing teacher. His classes are fun and engaging and he really knows what he's talking about. Even though he goes off on tangents the often relate back to the material and if not they're usually funny.

Professor Giles is an excellent professor. He is very helpful and willing to get his students where they need to be in understanding the class. I would recommend him to anyone. He is funny and his stories are pretty good, even if he does have a tendency to go way off topic with them.

This class was awesome!:) There was assigned stories,discussions and small quizzes and tests. They're not hard at all,as long as you read the assigned stories (which are very short). Prof. Giles is also funny and very helpful.Great class!

I really enjoyed this class and reccommend it for anyone who can take it. It is easy if you actually go to class and take notes. You benefit greatly on tests if you take notes!! Giles is a very funny guy and though not very loud, I could still understand him. Seriously, take this class if you can...

Nice enough guy, kinda senile, rambles a lot... We read books that were assigned in all of my previous English courses, so difficulty wasn't a factor... the books were also easy... Usually he doen't even know you're there, no attendance policy to speak of... My advice: go to class so you make sure you know when the tests/quizzes are and then bail... He'll let you bring your books to the test, so read at home/study at home, do the essay test and you'll be fine... Easy-ass class...

Giles is by far the best prof I've had here. A wide style and content range. Grade is based on 2 in-class essays and participation. You'll want to attend class because he has the best lectures even though he'll often stray from the topic. A brillant man with a great sense of humor. If you can, have him for a at least one class. I loved class with Giles. My only complaint is that he's not very loud and I tend to fall asleep in class. I actually moved my seat to the front so I could hear every word. The guy is one of the most hilarious and engaging professors. His knowledge of American authors is astounding. He's just a great guy and I recommend his class to anyone who is interested in great literature and the history behind the writers.
