Dr. Haynes is intelligent and very kind. The work is not extremely hard, however it is excessive. There is a lot of reading (something almost every class). At the end of the day, he was one of the best professors I had at Brockport.

Loved this class and Dr. Haynes is one of the best professors in the science department at Brockport. Lectures were fun to listen to and I feel like I learned a lot from his class. Can be very book heavy at times but if you're in the Environmental Science field, you should find the material interesting. The lab instructor for this class is annoying

Professor Haynes will do whatever he can to help you pass. He's easy to talk to and extremely nice. This class was not the easiest there is a lot of outside work. He is enthusiastic about his lectures you can tell he cares about the subject.

So much work. This course brought down my GPA because of the intensive reading and homework that was due nearly every day. He's a nice guy, but lets his political views show too much. He gets excited about extremely boring things. You will not pass the class if you don't put the work into it. There's not textbook for the intro class which was nice

Prof. Haynes is a very clear+passionate man about his teachings. If not interested in ENV sci., class may seem very boring. Lots of readings per week. Class notes already provided. Very helpful and understanding. All work is online. Very understanding an gives lots of second chances for missing hw, even guides you through assignments if necessary.

Lots of reading and quizes. Every class there is a pre-class quiz and in every lecture there are clicker questions. Very hard to get an A unless you love to read about boring science topics.

Dr. Haynes is a brilliant man with strong moral and political opinions. His classes will be extremely challenging for those who aren't science majors, and those who don't care about the environment. If you fit into both of those categories, I wound't even bother giving this class a chance. Lab is fun and lectures interesting to listen to.

I took this course 3 semesters ago and I have yet to take a class that requires half as much time, energy, reading, etc. He gives really long assignments that don't really have a point to them and you don't have a lot of time to do them. He doesn't factor in that you have a lab too and between the lab and lecture, should be 7 credits instead of 4

Do NOT take this class if you are not an ENV Sci Major. I am a Nursing student in the Honors program and took this class to fulfill my credit and it was the most time consuming class I have ever taken. Dr. Haynes is a passionate guy who assigns extremely long readings with an online quiz before each class. The tests are very hard and confusing.

95% of the time he just sits there and lets someone else teach his class. On the rare occasion he does teach, he is painfully boring to listen too and he makes almost no sense.

Only take the class if you are an ENV Science major. I would not recommend taking it for Honors class credit. He is a passionate, opinionated guy who gives WAY too much homework. The lab plus the work he assigns for class are very time consuming and can be viewed as busy work. His two tests are challenging and he is hard to follow in lectures.

Dr. Haynes is a smart dude, but for a 200 level class, I put in a LOT of hours a week just to stay on top of everything. There are so many pre-class quizzes to take, along with tedious lab work and online readings. I enjoyed taking this class, and I learned a lot, but the work load is unnecessary.

Science & Society was an awful time with Prof. Haynes. The class consists of learning a different science every day, none of which relate to one another, and quizzes you on all of them combined. Hard to follow along, simply reads off powerpoints, and is an overall unpleasant person to work with. DO NOT TAKE SCIENCE AND SOCIETY WITH HIM!

I took Science and Society with Dr. Haynes and it was terrible. There were pre class quizzes every day and the big project is bogus because only certain members of the group help complete it. The cumulative quizzes are also difficult.

Reads off powerpoints, making it impossible to pay attention/learn. WAY too much homework. He expects us to read several hours worth 3 nights a week when it's not our major and we have other classes? Forced long readings are not the best way to encourage us to keep an open mind. Avoid this class.

Easy material but far too much reading for a gen ed class. Does not teach the class, simply reads off a PowerPoint. Expects too much for his class. 3 quizzes a week, plus 2-3 hour readings 3 times a week, far too much. Avoid his class. Esp Science and Society.

Unless you love spending hours a night on pointless assignments and like having your major, religious beliefs, and gender insulted during tangents, do not take this course. Haynes is a nice guy, but he assigns more homework than the rest of my courses combined.

ridiculous amounts of hw, if you want to have no life take this class. good teacher, but wouldn't take it unless environmental major. runs over time every class, got to the point where i would just get up and leave when class was supposed to end. doesn't take into consideration we have other classes other than his.
