Dr. Barry is a great Professor that really cares about your education. You have to put in the work for the assignments. This was a debate class and he grades pretty harshly, but you can pass with an A if you actually put in an effort. You have to participate every class, so if you miss you lose out on points and that will affect your grade.

Took Professor Barry online this summer, and it was my first online class. A quarter of our grade was dicussion boards and you only had to post 6 times a week and we had 8 2 page essays(3 are due during midterms and 5 are due during finals) This is a great class if you dont like speaking infront of people. He also is a quick replier!

I really liked having prof. Barry for PHILP-113. Really funny in class and was always there to helped when a student needed it. The class is a debate class, so get ready to argue a lot with other students in the classroom. It is interesting to have to argue for things you never would've without being forced to.

He wasn't a bad teacher, I enjoyed our class and he gave good feedback and prep for class, however he's not aware of what he says before he says it sometimes . Never offended me personally, solid prof.

Dr. Barry is by far one of the most intellectually stimulating professors on campus. You can tell he enjoys a good discussion, so if you're a talker (and you know what you're taking about), you'll get along with him just fine. I've taken two classes with him as the professor, and I learned so many things from him.

Barry taught me so much in the semester that I had him. His insights are so knowledgeable, it's hard not to get engaged in his lectures. His teaching style is participation heavy, which encourages people to learn to have something to offer to the conversation. Definitely encourage students to take his classes.

I took this class instead of public speaking and it was a good choice. The class was interesting and fun. There are textbooks, but the pdf document he provides is more useful. Only thing I didn't like is that he never gave anyone a 100, even on participation credit. But the class average was probably a B+. Not difficult to make a good grade in.

Extremely knowledgeable and passionate professor! However, his expectations aren't very clear and the class felt spastic as a whole. Discussion is a big part of the class, though the grades only vaguely show your participation.

Dr. Barry is an excellent instructor. He managed to take a subject that I hated and made me interested in learning more. His passion for the subject he teaches is amazing. I highly recommend him!

This guy is one of the smartest and well read people I know. He cares about his students and the world at large and is a speaker. The being said, he had unclear expectations and no one was ever really sure what we were doing in class. I would def recommend taking him though, it will build your character.

He is very philosophical, knowledgable and funny. He does expect a lot out of you with lots of paper and participation. I thought this class was a little tough for a 100 level class, but he does make it interesting.

I had him for Ethics. He really encouraged discussion in class and that made it interesting. He is awesome as a professor and intense in his opinions; if you try and just show up you will not get lower than a B most likely. He doesn't give out As very often though. Never gives A+s for some reason I don't remember. But overall he rocks!
