Comment:

Took him for Value Investing Kelly is a great guy and makes his class really interesting. I learned a lot from the course and he's a very effective teacher. It is a decent amount of work, the material isn't necessarily hard there is just a lot of it. That being said i'd fully recommend him its an interesting class and he makes the class fun.

Comment:

Kelly is an awesome guy. Just because he is pretty easy does NOT mean you can just not study for the midterm and final. Almost half the class got a C- or below on the midterm. Was the midterm hard? My god no. I studied for a couple hours and got an A. Just need to memorize a couple formulas and some basic concepts. Ignore the negative reviews.

If you don't speak up in class, he will not like you. Either that or he just doesn't like certain students. He's not a nice guy; always has a frown on his face and is grumpy. He's boring and is never clear about any of his assignments or the exams. Also, there isn't much content to this course; it's the same few concepts repeated over and over.

Don't get fooled into taking VI. it's a narrow-minded discipline and the course isn't easy. Many of his SMIF kids take the course so he plays favorites. he was unclear on what we would be tested on. Got an A but the majority of my classmates got lower than a B. Had long homework assignments due every class that he collects but doesn't grade.

Good class. We had Joseph Calandro, Mario Gabelli and Bruce Greenwald as guest-lecturers which was helpful. If you're a finance major definitively take this class, you won't regret it!

Great professor. Extremely useful material, but was the toughest class I've had so far. I spent on average 10 hours to do my part for each of the modules, but I wanted a good grade. The modules teach you to think like an analyst and I believe the class is good training for the real world. Tough course, but worth the work. Got an A in the class

Had him for international investments. Don't listen to the person below this comment. I spent a combined 4-5 hours on the 4 modules. my group never met, we just presented once each which isnt too bad. I put very minimal effort into studying and managed to get an A- in the class. The material learned in the class is important too.

Do not buy the textbook because it was extremely expensive and we only used it once. His 4 modules are very time consuming and demanding of due diligence and research. Only take this class if you're a finance major. His exams are very exacting, detailed, and hard. You need to have a photographic memory of all the PPT slides.He's so bias about China

Professor Kelly is a great teacher who really knows the world of Finance. International Investments is a course he created when he came to Fordham and his expertise in international bond trading during his career makes him invaluable for this class. Definitely can get an A in his class if you know the material or put in hard work

Old school professor who tries to teach you real life finance. Starts the class with bloomberg.com so it helps to chech it out before class. If you like finance, you will do ok. If not, you might have to work slightly harder. Tests are medium and if you stay on top, youre good. Cant study/rem everything, focus on what he stresses and know formulas!

Great teacher- fairly easy group papers and I don't like writing. midterm was hard, but he made a really easy short Final exam--nice guy! He really cares if you understand the info. he was always available for extra help after class. I got a B+. I could have done better but i didn't study enough on my midterm. I wish I could take Kelly again.

Midterm and final were fair exams. You'll do well if you study. Very interesting class, but Kelly made it more tedious (not harder) than it needed to be. Wasn't a fan of his grading on the group project. He gave a 10/10 to a perfect score to a student that read off index cards during presentation. Gave low grades to more effective presenters.

If you don't do the work at home/don't understand acctg/finance, don't take him. Chapters are covered in no time. He does not seem approachable but if you ask for time before or after class in advance, he will answer questions and go over the material again. He is old-school, wants respect - if he doesn't get it from students, he will not help.
