He's a good guy and very approachable. Most of the class is in workshop format, meaning you either critique each other's scripts or meet 1 on 1 with him and he helps you with it. Attendance mandatory and he docks points for any absence on workshop days. Class is a lot of work but you can write your screenplay on anything you want so it's fun.

Plays not as "modern" as you'd think. Goes over reading in class but class leaves unclear on what the main points are which makes it difficult to prepare for the midterm and final, which are in class essays. Very knowledgeable and likable, but class is bland and you lose your interest mid semester.

Dr. Marlow is the wisest yet most down-to-earth and unpretentious educator I have had the pleasure to meet. Lectures come from his head, and like others say, he is a walking book of literary history and worldly knowledge. My friend and I are convinced he is a retired stage and film actor: every class is a subtle yet engaging performance.

Gives quizzes that are practically impossible to get a good grade on because readings are boring and incomprehensible. Doesnt give details about what he expects out of the assignments. Smart guy just seems as though he doesnt want to help students grasp info or pass the class.

Nice teacher, but work can be hard. He expects a lot so I suggest if you want to do well on assignments you meet with him so he can help you. Not an easy class.

Nice professor, but def a class you need to work for. He is always willing to help if you need it. He is always in a good mood. Lectures can be boring, and you need to do the reading to do well on the test. Overall good professor.

Dr. Marlow is an amazing professor. He IS a walking dictionary, I can't fathom what his IQ actually might be. You have to read his questions on tests VERY carefully, but he's actually pretty easy if you understand what he wants from his students. I just wish he'd post grades faster, it's been almost two weeks and I still don't know how I did yet!

This man loves his semiotics. Sounds like a talking dictionary. He gives out four page study guides that have the smallest font ever and asks the most detailed questions on his mid-term/final. Don't get me wrong, he's very smart and a nice guy once he warms up but not too sure if I'd take another course with him

Wow I learned a lot in his course, not to mention found a new passion for British literature. Along with incredibly forsight and knowledge in the subject, he also adds interesting tidbits on other subjects (for example Niecha) and he's obviously having fun teaching. You're expected to know your stuff, and you must do the reading but he makes it fun

Best English professor this crappy school has. All English majors should take at least one class with him. I reccommend a writing class, because he offers unlimited creative freedom, so long as you follow function and form. However, I imagine a lit class with him would be just as enlightening.

Marlow is such a good guy. He genuinely cares about his students and has such passion behind everything that he teaches. He offers tutorials in screenwriting where we work one on one with him. He can recognize my scripts without my name on them. He really puts himself into his teaching. Take him!!

Very cool guy, expects a lot from his students. He was really disappointed in my class because lots of people didn't attend. I think we broke his spirit. I attended class regularly, only missing once and would definitely take him again.

Great teacher very clear and knowledgable. Good sense of humor and very smart. Does not talk down to students and is a very capable teacher. Lots of reading but I like that sort of thing which is why I took the class. In my opinion best English Professor
