Dr. Powell is amazing! I took him for 1301 and 1302. He rewards attendance (if you didn't know this, you skipped class) He kept me engaged and was very entertaining! I was sad when I finished his class! OUTSTANDING!

I love history and Dr Powell would have been perfect if AC hadn't changed their classes to fast track. His course Is much harder than my history 1 because he is detailed, and really expects engagement. I think he knows a lot and really cares about history and learning, but it's hard to learn or do all the work he gives when classes are so fast.

Class for U.S history. Took it about 2012-2013 . He is very knowledgable, very helpful and will set up a time to help you understand. His questions are critical thinking , so you need to get notes and record his class. His class is worth it for those who didn't rate him accordingly its be ause students don't want to study.

He teaches his class like he watched everything happen himself. He is one of the most educated person of history that you will ever have a chance to learn from. It felt like stealing to take his class so cheap from AC. Take his classes while you have the chance.

I love Dr. Powell's class. I've had him two semesters now and will be in his online class next semester. I left his class with a far higher appreciation for US history and am sincerely sad that the semester is ending. Every day I left class enlightened and blown away by his lectures. I highly suggest taking his class if you are taking US history.

I LOVED this class i have had him for 3 classes yes he does care and he will stay and help you anytime you just have to ask i am sad that i will not have him anymore but I will visit him he made me understand History and love it and want to know more he likes you to ask questions in class i had an online class with him too he helped me in person

I did not like this class at all. He spends nearly the entire class period bringing in is own social and political values. If you want a history class that is spun far left, take this class. The tests were not reflective of my notes, and the book is very unorganized and hard to use.

I can't believe all these negative comments! I myself loved Dr. Powell and was saddened when I completed my U.S. history requirements because it meant not having him as my professor anymore. It's an easy class; if you show up and take notes you should have no problem getting an A. He's very sweet and not bad looking either. ;)

I wish he taught ALL my classes! Had a connection due to teh military right away, but he clearly cares a great deal about making a difference for all his students. I learned as much about life and the resposibilities we all share and how to make a difference myself, as I did about American History. A true blessing to the college and its students.

His class is not easy. He gives you a cheat card for the test but it was usually worthless. Do not put any of the notes from class on the card. His tests are usually from the book and not the lectures. I would not recommend him to anyone.
