Not a great teacher. Some times okay to listen to but forget any help with any assignments he gives you. His tests seem to have nothing to do with what he lectures about during class. I kind of feel sorry for him because he just isnt in todays world. Probably has a lot of knowledge just doesnt get it out in an easy to learn way.

We, in his online class, are graded on three things a week... A paper, a Quiz and a Worksheet. That's it ALL SEMESTER! I suggest you don't take this professor. Hawkeye needs to re-evaluate their staff.

Very good guy, not a great teacher. He's super smart and knows what he's talking about, but he tends to get off topic. He makes class more comfortable with his jokes. Make sure you read ahead or he'll get irritated. Test are a little hard, but just go over the study guide he provides on Canvas. He usually adds a few bonus points to tests too.

I would not recommend him because I did not learn a thing from him. The only grade we get from him is our online quizzes (which you can copy and paste and find on quizlet) and our main tests in class. WHICH ARE HARD. I have been teaching myself from the book. So I guess if you like that take him.

If you want to learn anything & get something out of him I wouldn't take him for any class. He's a nice teacher but his teaching just isn't the best he gets off topic ALOT. & I personally didn't get anything out of the class. The only reason I passed the class is by teaching myself and I barely made it through.

He is the worst teacher I've ever had. I want a refund because I haven't learned a single thing. He gets off topic a lot more than he teaches. He always blames himself not knowing how to use technology on the technology not working but it's really just him.

I liked Professor Rodgers as a person and I found him interesting and funny, but really hard to follow along with and hist tests were really tough. I often refered to this class as the bane of my existence even though I love Psych. Take at your own discretion. I do not strongly recomend, but I won't stop you :)

James Rodgers is by far the the toughest teacher I have ever encountered. He graduated highschool at 14 so he expects alot He tells us at least once every class that Americans are dumb and need to adapt new learning techniques such as the ones he was taught abroad. So good luck reading every page of your text book in order to receive a decent grade

Dr. Rodgers was my absolute favorite professor while I attended Hawkeye. Yes, he got off topic a lot, but thats because he is a genius. If you started college when you were 14 like he did you might get a little side tracked by all the things you know too. Overall he is a great teacher. Just listen to his lectures and take notes and you'll do fine.

I wouldn't recommend this class to anybody who wants to learn anything. The lectures and book has nothing to do with tests. I read all of the chapters for a test and still didn't do well. James is very confusing. Anybody who is taking different classes will not do outstanding because there simply enough time to put into the class.

Dr. Rodgers has been my favorite professor at Hawkeye. I have had him all three semesters at Hawkeye. He literally gives his passion to you. It is easy to become extremely interested in what he has to say. He genuinely cares about his students and is releasing great transfer students into universities as a result of his classes. i

If you're okay with having your text book as a bible, take his class. He gives you notes that claim to to summaries of the readings but are virtually pointless. His tests often have material not covered in class on them. We spent countless class periods talking about anything but what was relavent to the class.

This teacher talked off topic a lot. Was hard to follow and did not make it clear what would be provided on the test. Gets angry with students easily. Beware.

Great teacher. Took for Abnormal and Developmental. Get on his good side and you will breeze through the class. Very funny. Does sometimes get distracted/off topic, but it takes away from the heaviness of the material. No homework. Only a few formal papers in which he is leniant with points on. I would highly recommend James.

He's a pretty good guy! You have to learn how to filter him out, he tends to get off track a lot, but he knows what he is talking about. As long as you study the key terms in the book, along with attend class, the tests will come easy. Sex seems to be brought up a lot, so if you don't like hearing about that topic, don't take abnormal psychology.

This professor is different than most. His lectures, while often off the point, are interesting, and at times insightful. He stresses his term paper. While it seems intimidating, a good, thorough effort ends up yielding a pretyt good grade. Study the book mainly for the class tests.
