I took both General Physics and University Physics with this professor. He is enthusiastic about his material, and has a baseline expectation that students will THINK! This is not a class for students who expect spoonfeeding! HEAVY math requirement - 040 for General is inadequate. Take Alg. for Precalc FIRST, you'll be much happier in the course!!

Really great teacher, I took the class only for a science credit, ended up being my favorite class ever! Definately need to study and do all extra credit, not an easy class, but sooo interesting and worth going to every class. Great power point use and pictures! Some labs have math-very hard. I would definately take another class with him.

Prof Shaw was awesome! The material was increadibly interesting and we had group observations with some great telescopes!!! The tests were hard tho, you really had to study. tons of extra credit. The class dynamics were so cool, it was relaxed and actually fun to come into class!! without a doubt I would take another class with James Shaw!
