Dr. Staab is passionate and easy to listen to. For POLS 1510 all you need to do is take good notes and show up to class. You can make flash cards from his power points and lecture and all test material comes from lecture.

He is by far my favorite professor. He is so personally invested in the topics we go over in class, I can't help but care just because he does. The tests are tough but he prepares you for them. I really hope I get the chance to work with him again.

Staab is a really good professor. Very knowledgable and can answer nearly any question you could have. Lectures can be dull at times, but go to class and take a lot of notes. He assigns a lot of reading but as long as you attend class, you shouldn't need to read to do well.

Staab is a great professor. A little odd, but once you adjust to his lecture style it's a really easy class. Take notes, everything on exams he talks about in class.

Dr. Staab is a phenomenal professor. He genuinely cares about your academic performance. His tests aren't hard as long as you read your notes and the assigned material from the book. He loves to use quotes on tests that he states during lecture, so if you miss class you'll miss test material. He is always accessible outside of class.

Class is mainly group discussion over cases, which is sometimes confusing. I would prefer Staab teach the class more as a formal lecture, but that's not his teaching style. You will have to read a lot, and significant participation is mandatory for doing well. Knowledgeable if you need clarification, though, and really nice and willing to help.

James Staab is a great teacher. He knows what he is doing but his class is sometimes difficult if you don't study for tests. The only things in the grade book are the 5 tests that are done every 3 weeks and 2 papers that you write throughout the semester. Do the extra credit paper at the end of the semester, it helps!!

Staab is an extremely passionate, well respected Professor. He is very knowledgeable about anything political and gives students the opportunity to explain their opinions without judgement. Do the readings and pay attention and you will be fine. 2 Tests, 1 Moot Trial with 7 page paper and final.

I absolutely loved this class. Staab is an awesome professor. Everyone says his tests are hard and long, they're not. All you have to do is know the material in your notes and you will pass. His essays are great because you get to pick your topic and you can do another essay for extra credit. Great class, great professor, would for sure take again

Great professor, very personable, excited about class. Tests are extraordinarily long, but get easier as class moves along. One paper, 5-7 pages long, you have to pretend to be Supreme Court Justice, hear case, make judgment using precedents and legal theories. Obsessed with in-class participation. Numerous readings, handouts, too many to count.

American Presidency. Tests seemed tough, and were extraordinarily long and arduous, but he graded them pretty fairly. A lot of reading material, but only assignment was a 10-page research paper and accompanying presentation. Knowledgeable guy, and passionate about subject. Pays a lot of attention to participation, make sure you do it.

Dr. Staab is very knowledgeable. To me, he seems like a historical Bill Nye because of his passion. There are 4 tests which are nearly impossible to pass. The two papers, however, are fairly easy because his assistants (upper level students) are the ones that grade them.

Staab is a very nice guy, but his class is very boring. Everyday is a lecture from a black and white power point. The class is composed of four tests, two papers, and a final. If you want A's on his tests, good luck. You have to remember almost everything he lectures over including quotes and their authors. Go to the study sessions! They're helpful

Dr. Staab is a great professor; he is ALWAYS willing to help--book really helps, but most of the material comes from the notes. Simply organize notecards and the test will be in line with your notes. I think this class should be mandatory for Americans--even though I believe in NWO--still teaches you the basics of our government. Loved this class

Great teacher with a lot of passion for politics. Keeps you engaged with his antics. Sometimes confusing because he's such an intellectual, you can always Google stuff to clarify. 2 Papers are only homework. Offers 4% extra credit if you write an extra paper and miss 5 or less days. Tests are hard so STUDY.If you do, you should at least get a B.

As a slacker who does not like to take a ton of notes and study too hard this guy is a baller. You should be taking notes the entire time but if not you can still retain what you need to know from listening. Tests are easy if you study the night before and reading is pretty much up to you. Hes hilarious too and will put a smile on your face.

From Whoville, the legend of quirkiness. He gets excited when quoting the great judges and presidents of our time. "Who wants to talk about Federalism!" Such a funny and knowledgeable guy. Seems like the typical absent-minded professor, but he cares more than that. Takes teaching seriously. Funny, likable Professor.
