In lecture he is all over the place and uses very old slides so it makes it difficult to understand and read. I would not recommend taking him, you don't learn anything.

If you have any questions he will give you the answer and make you feel dumb like you shouldve known it. He is a really cool guy outside of the classroom though he giggles quite a bit at himself. Other than that I dont recommend taking his class.

This was an awful experience for me. He only has grades on the 4 test he will drop your lowest at the end of the semester. He gives you old test to study off of, but they all are a little off because he doesnt go in order. His lectures almost have nothing to do with the test. They are a waste of time.

Well where do I start, His lectures suck. there is so much going on you won't know whats going on. No extra credit and he grades just on exams. There is no use in reading the book or taking notes during the lectures, he gives you old tests that the exams are over. Overall the he's a nice person but really hard to learn from.

This was Freshwater Algae. Attending every lecture is necessary to pass- I highly recommend recording the lectures- that's what I've been doing. Dr. Dawson is a brilliant man, but if you don't get it he doesn't help much. Make sure to do independent research (no textbook though). If you take his class you WILL learn a lot... or you'll fail

Dr. Dawson is a brillant man and an even better man outside of the classroom, but inside, I had no idea what was going on. Lecture tests are bases of off lecture (but never covered the objectives that were on the test in lecture) and a series of old tests he gives you. I made 100+ notecards over old questions and barely got a B.

WORST teacher ever! He's nice and all, but this class is ONLY based on your 5, 40 question tests, it's hard! The lectures are pictures and him talking about them. So you better read that book and read it again, then memorize the study guide.

extremely boring class. he uses an overhead projector which is your first warning. it is extremely difficult to take notes because he shows you tables and graphs for all of the information. he gives out old tests as study guides but only uses a handful of those questions on the test. READ THE BOOK!

I didnt think he was very good. I agree with the person that said all he does is put up comic stips on the projector, which for me just was just a big distraction and made it hard for me to stay focused on what was trying to be taught. Zurek is better for this class. Both are hard but at least Zurek doesnt laugh like the professor on the Simpsons

dr. dawson ROCKS! he's an excellent teacher and advisor. anyone who has him is a lucky person. i learned so much from him, and he has trick to help you remember material. i walked in and said i'm gonna get a C if i'm lucky... but i GOT AN A!!! All i had to do was study a couple of hours the night before a test and I'd get an A, plus, he curves.

Class is boring. You can't take notes because all he puts up are comic strips, charts, or reactions that would be a waste of time to copy. READ YOUR BOOK! The old tests are usually very handy. Ohh and also after he says something that he thinks is funny he always goes HHHHMMMMMMM!!! really loud. Listen for it! Trust me it's funny. We count it.

well...he always gives big curves on test.BUT you need them because the average is usually 50%.(you can get an A though)it is a hard class and you need to read a lot. he is a nice guy,but he says one thing is not on the test and then of course it is.
