Prof. Tiernan is legit. I took his early American history class - it was one night a week and I looked forward to it all week. He cares less about grades and more about having real, relatable discussions. He's an authentic guy who really cares about what he teaches, and can answer nearly any question you throw his way. Highly recommended.

Professor Tiernan is a great guy. His prompts for writing aren't very clear, but when you go to his office hours he really guides you in the right direction. He is a tough grader, so be ready to work for the A. He knows a lot about war and his stories are the best. Make an effort to go to his office hours, you wont regret it.

Overall, a very knowledgeable teacher. Lectures can get a little long, but still lots of quality instruction. Sometimes can talk himself in circles and lose his train of thought. Definitely recommend if you like history.

Tiernan is the man! most fun you'll have learning history ever. The veterans he has come in are great too! this class was my favorite and still is. He can be confusing with what he expects from you, however.

he is a very fun and nice professor.. he has pretty simple reading that you have to write short essays on, he gives you the questions of the midterms and finals and a cheat sheet so you can prepare before. pretty good class
