Jane Vogel was, by far, my favorite and most influential teacher. She is the reason I became a high school English teacher. I'm surprised to read these reviews since my experience was that she is a woman with a passion for literature and ideas. Loved her class and loved her!

I have been out of college for 9 years now and still think about Jane's class. She was a quirky one, but I loved hearing her take on whatever we were reading. She may not be sweet to everyone, but that's part of her charm. I encourage people to take her courses and enjoy.

intro to poetry- i used to love poetry. words cannot express how insane this woman is. she actually kept me after class to tell me i was the worst student she has ever had and that i was hostile. mind you, i sat in class quietly, participated once in a while, and handed everything in on time. she is a true nutball.

I had this professor for Intro to Short Story, and I will not lie: I think that Vogel has been teaching this material for too long. The class was discussion based and she shot down any opinion expressed that was not her own. She also presented material that was not only incredibly boring, but beyond depressing. Add this to the fact that she meeaan!

I agree with the person who left the email about Jane Vogel's love of teaching. She is an extrodinary individual, and if you took the time to speak with her you would understand. I challenge any student, faculty, or administrator to find her equal in energy, love and knowledge of subject material, and love of students. She is tough...but fair

To whom it May Concern, specifically, the indivual who left the "rating" on January 7...Before you were born Dr. Vogel was my Professor in 18th and 19th Centruy Lit, The Short Story, and Poetry. She is a Dickensian scholar, a published author ("Allegory in Dickens"...it's in the library), and cares more about teaching than anyone I have ever met.

worst teacher i've ever had, and i went to NYC public school. She is cruel, often offensive, unfair, and rude. Her tests were impossible to pass. No matter what you wrote on a paper, it was soaked in red pen afterwords, with little helpful feedback. she smelled like mothballs and wore risque sweatshirts and you could see her bra straps.

Means well...has true passion for her subjects, and wishes to inflame other students with that passion. Becomes so vehement she monopolizes class with repetition of her own opinions. I pity her. She must know the general consensus on her, and it hurts her more than we know. That sensitivity is, however, a liability, and in the end, her undoing.

MAD AS A HATTER! Enemy of free thought, lover of her own voice. She becomes emotionally involved with her work to the point where if one disgarees with her interpretation of a character or story, or anything, really, it's a personal attack on her character. Probably used to be a great professor - I believe it's time, however, to throw in the towel.

Like all the rest have said before, this lady IS actually crazy. i cant describe to you how awful this woman is. She doesn't let you speak in class in your own thoughts, and when you try to ask her to clarify her crazy ramblings that are smeared all over your paper, she will scream at you, claim you are an awful student, and never help you.

I love english, and this was the worst english class I have ever taken. I will keep it basic. This women is ACTUALLY crazy, I'm not just using the expression. She punishes you for thinking on your own, and not sharing her personal intepretations of poetry. She does not allow discussion, or eye contact between classmates. And doesn't grade equally.
