Comment:
Professor Black has lots of office hours, she does help students when they have problems. But in class, she spends a lot of time talking about what she likes, Paris, Versailles etc... There is extra credit which can cover 10% of your grade. Quizzes are relatively difficult and not really based on the ppt. Btw the PPT is also a mess as well.

Comment:
Janet Black is way too demanding of a teacher. She practically flies through lectures and does not take questions or go back to previous slides. Its challenging if you're a slower learner or just like to ask questions about confusing material. She expects you to memorize 100s of paintings but won't even answer questions!

I wish I could give her a 0. Shes the type of teacher to go off of her own knowlegde Instead of the text books. Quizzes are scattered and not based off the textbooks. Very unorganized slides and very boring lectures

Requires you to know a ton of vocab, which she scatters throughout her 100 page power points. She throws so many different information and images and doesn't tell you what to study. I got 1 point of extra credit so don't bother doing it if you take this class. Even the smartest people in this class got Fs. Treats us all like were in high school.

She is such a great professor. She knows SOOO much about the subject and is very passionate about it. She reviews a lot so you leave her class really knowing the stuff. I went in knowing nothing about art history and left knowing a ton. The class is also not very hard as long as you take good notes and study. Is very nice but don't call her Janet!!

This class is really easy if you read the textbook. You don't need to go over the powerpoint slides or videos There is a museum tour/research paper that is required. I'd do the museum tour, it's really straightforward and not very time consuming; just start it early. There are a few quizzes, 2 tests, optional final, + graded discussions.

This class is easy, if you can put in the work because it is ALOT. I liked the class, I wouldn't take it again though because of the amount of work that was given.

I've taken two art history classes from Dr. Black and recommend her wholeheartedly. She really knows the material and provides numerous online resources to help students succeed. She expects students to participate in class and doesn't tolerate texting and talking in class. Take her class if you really enjoy learning about art. She's terrific!

This class is pretty intense. Ms. Black loves France and gets pretty excited about it. If you don't study hard for the tests and memorize the works of art, prepare for a rude awakening. Even though the class is hard (especially if you aren't interested in art history) it is possible to do well. Read the book, powerpoints, and watch the videos.

Only take this class if you have a high interest in Art History. She expects you to read everything, watch all her videos, and memorize every artwork. Her powerpoints are at least 100 slides each and her quizzes and tests are hard and timed. If you do take her online course, make sure to put 20 hours a week for this course; if not, you will fail.

She is really passionate as an art history teacher. However, those who want to take her class should think thoroughly before registration because she has picture identification in her exam, which requires the students to write down the name, stylistic period, country, artist, and time of the art piece. There are about 100 pictures in total.

She demands a lot from the students but she also wants you to succeed. Read the powerpoint she goes over online and memorize image ids and you'll do fine on her tests.

It might be better to take a different teacher. She is a great art historian, but maybe too advanced for the class. Not everyone is majoring in art-history. I wish she didn't treat her students as if we were high schoolers. It was not adorable or endearing at all. The tests are very detailed.

Professor Black made Art History one of the most fun, easiest, and interesting classes that I've ever taken. She tries so hard to engage all the students in the class and has little tolerance for people who sit in the back and use their phone in class. If you paid attention to the lectures and read the book, like I did, the class wasn't very hard.

Best professor ever! Took Art 101 and 102. Both fun, 102 more interesting. Super easy. Must come to class. Tests are things she says in lecture. Pay attention and you'll get at least a B.1 HW assignment/ 2 max. (Little paragraphs). Must study/ memorize art pieces for tests. She's so sweet too. She will fail you if you sleep, text, talk etc.
