Took her for 1A. Her lectures were awesome and she really involved students in discussions. Syllabus was crystal clear and she explained what she wanted us to learn. She offered in class conferencing with every writing assignment so if you bring your typed draft she will help you so much that you will get an A.

Comment:

Tough but good teacher. Her essay assignments can get tough but she is there to guide every step. This isn't a hard class if you put the time in and don't procrastinate. Her grading criteria is very clear and you can easily see where your grade is at any time. Overall she is a good teacher. Did hear she was retiring so she might not be there.

Her class is hard because of how she grades your work, I've never struggled in any English class until her's and I regret taking her. If you want a professor who will help you learn from your mistakes and help you improve your skills, this is not the professor you want to take.

Loved, loved, loved this class! No busy work. She has amazing insights. Essays are challenging but she is there to help so just come with your typed draft and she will make suggestions that will take your essay to the next level. Highly recommend.

Even though it's English 1A this is a great class with a great teacher who really know her stuff. She will teach you how to write an essay and her method actually works. Highly recommend.

When I found out that the focus of the class is death, I thought about dropping. I'm glad I didn't. She knows a lot about the subject and the readings are very interesting. This might be one of the more important classes I will ever take.

Great teacher. Interesting readings and heavy emphasis on analytical thinking. Really cares about students but takes no BS. Don't bother making up lame excuses. Pay attention to what she tells you about quotes! You will learn how to write. Don't even think about plagiarizing. She will find out and she will pursue it.

I would say good teacher, pretty much discussion prompts that you need to complete every week, tests are essays and you get extra credit opportunities. Just wish she was more active on etudes. Make sure you check times and due dates because it's easy to miss an assignment. Definitely get the textbook rent on amazon for cheap.

Professor Madden is dedicated to students and really wants us to succeed. She treats students like adults, which means slackers beware. This class is a lot of work but I I've learned so much and grown so much as a writer and person.

Dr. Madden is by far one of the best professors at ElCO. She assigns 4 essays & 1 research paper, & offers EC. She is so sweet & honestly you improve so much in her class. Obviously, you have to put in effort & do the reading in order to pass her class but she is very clear with the essay prompts. Gives EC 4 attending the writing center. Take her!

Professor Madden is the most intuitive professor I've met at this school. She is very clear with her assignments and she wants all of her students to do well. She does require alot of books for the class but theyre EXTREMELY helpful. She makes her students think outside of the box. Take her if you want to become a better writer ! She's amazing.
