This was a tough class. Prof. Schenone took a long time to grade papers, and I honestly thought she was a little unfair. I agree with the previous post, Schonone was too busy trying to finish school herself to be much help. I still got an A in the class, but barely and I worked my butt off. I came from a journalistic background & this class was difficult for me, especially being online. I would have preferred to have the extra help, but I felt that Janine was very distracted & spread thin by her workload: juggling several online classes for ARC, completing her seminary studies at Yale Divinity in Conn., & keeping up with her blog.

Comment:

Prof. Schenone was a fair grading teacher that taught the materials straight forward. She only required about 4 major essays and the homework was usually just reading. If you're looking for an english class, I'd highly recommend this one. Just remember to do the readings; they are crucial.

I really enjoyed this class because I feel that my writing really improved. I was not so excited about taking the class when I started, and this professor has made it really easy to learn. I felt the way this class was designed was extraordinary and it also contributed to my success. If you do all the assignments you will learn a lot!

Professor Schenone is passionate about teaching. I have learned so much in this class, and I'm pretty sure I will get an A, but I have worked for it. She is very helpful IF you meet with her and ask for guidance. If you want to learn how to write at college level, then I highly recommend taking her class.

Learned a lot about technical writing. Lots of assignments and homework. Usually given a week to finish assignments. I got a good grade, but I earned it too. don't think you can not do the homework or turn papers in on time. Take her if you want to know how to write technical papers

she was great. she made class interesting, she is very knowledgeable and completely willing to help when asked. the class is difficult but only if you dont want to learn english. if you have any intention of getting something from an english course and appreciating literature take her.

Prof.Schenone demands alot from her students, but she also puts her heart into her teaching and the literature we read was well picked. If you are willing to put in some time into analyzing and questioning the literature you will get an A easily. : )) PS just go to the office hours sometimes

Professor Schenone divides the winner students from the loser students because of her some what vigorous demand for work. Do the work completely visit her during her office hours If your having trouble with an essay. She will help you out its just in order for her to be to good teacher the student has to apply themselves.

Prof. Schenone is extremely helpful. She made, what could've been a very difficult class, fun and enjoyable. Encourages students to come to her office hours if they are struggling. If you get a bad grade, it must be because you're not putting that much effort into the work. This is college, so either step up or get out people. Great teacher!

I thought Prof. Schenone was not only extremely knowledgeable, but also enthusiastic and helpful. She really lights up the class and makes it fun. It's NOT easy, though, so if you want an easy A go back to adult ed--this is college people. I found her very accessible during office hours, or whenever I needed via email. Thanks Schenone!

I think schenone was a hard teacher, but it is a college level english class, what do you expect? I loved her view on the reading, didnt always agree but it made a good class discussion. It was a fun, but very challenging class. Not for the weak minded and lazy because you actually do work.

There's an old saying that goes, "Those who can't do - teach." The trouble is, she can't teach either (In my opinion). I scored in the 95th percentile on my English assessment, and I'm close to failing this absurd little 1.5 unit class. The Dean is going to hear about this one from me. AVOID THIS CLASS! I took one of my essays to a different teacher along with the req. for it and my prof. said he'd give me at least a B, Scheone gave me a F, just because I spoke out in her class when she verbally abused us and told us we were stupid. Don't take her.
