When you come down to it, Mandle is a very straightforward teacher; if you understand the concepts and are willing to use his language, and you'll have to use his language, then you'll do well in his class. Take the time to go over your notes, memorize a few buzzwords, and you'll be fine.

He is a great teacher and anything on the test he has said before, so the tests are never unfair. He is a very tough grader and has strict guidelines for answers and wording, but once you get down the wording and thought process that he wants you will do well. He is an extremely funny and interesting teacher.

I loved Econ until I took his class. He's probably the worst professor at Colgate. He literally will give you 50% for a question (there are only 5 on each test) if you are missing one word or don't write it exactly the way he wants. He literally cuts students down in front of the whole class. RAMBLES all class. We all worked SO hard for bad grades!

Mandle is honestly one of the best professors I've had so far. There's no homework or papers, so if you aren't a good test taker you might want to take a different section. He's picky but he really wants his students to understand the subject material rather than just memorize it. Great professor especially if you want to continue with econ!

Prof. Mandle is very smart, but often times unfair. His grading does not make sense and he takes off lots of points for the smallest mistakes. Extremely picky. Definitely have to come to class, but I wouldn't bother buying the book.

Mandle is a phenomenal professor and really provides a great introduction to micro and macro economics. Also, he is really passionate about economics and seems to care a lot about his students. Awesome Professor! Class is solely based off lecture, don't bother buying the book.

Class takes work but Mandle will help you as much as he possibly can if you give him the chance. He's very particular about everything so his tests measure your ability to repeat his phrasing as well as the material itself. SO helpful in office hours and an adamant user of "the fudge factor" for grades if you make an effort. Don't buy the textbook.

This guy was the man. Definitely the best intro professor here. Don't get the textbook for his class, you'll take pages of notes each class. He very much wants everyone to understand, but is anal about language and how you answer a question.

Mandle is the man. His intro econ course is the best at Colgate by far. Be prepared to madly scribble notes, but don't be afraid to ask or answer questions in class. His course wasn't easy, but, well, neither is economics, and he will work hard to help you understand things in class or in office hours. He's also just a fantastic guy in general.

In one word: forgiving. I took this class for a requirement and I did not do as well as I would have liked. Mandle gave me a chance to retake an exam and helped me throughout the semester to raise my grade to a solid level. He is tough, often unclear in expectations, and very picky about words, but will help you and does not want to see you fail.

I thought Mandle was a great professor, he really sparked my interest in econ and I wish I could have taken more classes with him. Lectures were always interesting and clear, you could tell he really enjoys the subject. Overall I thought the class was an easy A as long as you attend every class and take good notes.

He is extremely picky about how you answer questions on tests. Even if you know your material well and it comes across in your answers, it is almost impossible to figure out what he is looking for. Textbook is absolutely useless. Nothing correlates to what he is teaching. The material was taught in an interesting way, but thats the only good thing.

he is a really difficult grader - wants his own specific wording and if it isnt there, it isnt right, whether it is clear you understand the concept or not. asks you to buy a $150 textbook and then stands in front of the class and tells you that the same book is wrong. he is a nice guy, but this class isn't worth taking unless required.

Horrible Professor! He is a hard grader partly because he wants you to answer the questions according to what he thinks and wants (word to word). He is very smart though in terms of what he teaches. But his arrogance makes him a horrible Professor. Don't take his class.

He was a very good teacher; obviously interested in what he's teaching. Very experienced. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FOR A GRADE unless you've previously taken Econ. A background in Econ definitely helps in order to do well.

This one is very subjective: I found the course laughably easy, but I have heard several horror stories about people struggling in this class. Just write down everything he says, learn it verbatim, and you're set for this one. 3 exams, and the final. No homework, textbook or anything else. Final's worth a whopping 55% of your grade though.

The Man. There is no homework and you do not need to buy the book. Just go to class, do the practice questions and go over them with him, and you will do great. He explains everything very well and test questions are similar to the practice.

I think he was great. He explains everything extremely well and tries to make sure that the class understands everything before he moves on. He's also great during office hours and really takes the time to clear up anything that was missed during class. His tests are based solely on what he says in class and very straightforward

I like Mandle. he is a good professor and teaches crystal clear. Unfortunately for my GPA, if you do not word questions exactly how he wants it, you can lose serious credit. I understand concepts but still have trouble doing well on tests.
