She is the best language professor I have ever had. It's a very easy and laid back class but I learned a lot. There's not a lot of homework and the tests are pretty easy. She is also a fair grader. She is not intimidating to approach and it seems that she really cares for her students. I wish I could have her for my next Spanish class.

by far THE BEST professor i ve ever had at gw- truly a wonderful prof and person. LOVED going to her class and talking to her after class. learned tons! you have to go to class, plenty of personal attention, get to know everyone well, jean is very helpful and wants her students to do well - passionate about spanish and teaching! shes wonderful!!

TAKE HER! She is such a nice woman, always willing to help you, and extremely understanding about sickness and whatnot. She made Spanish class enjoyable and not a pain! There was homework but it was very doable, only a sheet per night. She's a lenient grader but I definitely learned a lot! LOVE HER!

Professor Yates is amazing. She is so nice and goes out of her way to make sure you understnad everything and have every opportunity to pass her class. Though she has no control over what goes on the tests, she prepares you well for them. One of the nicest teachers I have had--she really cares, about you as an individual.

Amazing professor. One of my absolute favorites. Emails great lecture notes for each class so you don't need the book at all. Class is basically tons of oral practice which is extremely helpful. Homework is good written practice. She seriously does everything she can to help you get the best grade you possibly can in the class. Nicest lady ever!

Senora Yates is one of my favorite professors ever. She's helped my Spanish a lot and is also an incredibly sweet woman. The class is a lot of oral practice, and the homework isn't mandatory. Take this professor - SHE IS AMAZING!!!

Everyone else is right, she's a brilliant teacher. Wonderful with grammar. Very clear. A very sweet woman to boot. The only catch is that there isn't much opportunity to speak Spanish in class. You'll understand how Spanish works, but you probably won't improve your speaking skills much. Still, highly recommended.

If you're going into this course expecting to improve your conversational skills, you won't. The class was group repetition of concepts with little open discussion. Besides, Spanish 3 is almost a repeat of 2 anyway. Yates is fun and helpful and the course is easy but I did not improve my Spanish.

Best teacher you'll ever have. Greatest writer, and a pure angel. Forget the rest, only Yates is the best. Heads will roll when she is the chair, because this woman has brains and ideas that will take the language and how to teach it into the next century.

Prof. Yates can relate to many college students: she stays up till odd hours like us, sleeps till noon, and uses email like a pro (she sends all hw through it). In class, she speaks only Spanish, and demands the same of her students. A relatively easy class, books both unnecessary. Used each once.
