If you take it then make sure you take LOTS of notes, and study a LOT. You will need it. He's a great professor and knows the material really well, but his class is agonizingly difficult for non-geology majors.

Very good teacher. Make sure you take really good notes and take the extra time to come in and study the rocks/minerals/fossils. His tests are not hard if you study your notes and review the study guide. Lab tests can be tricky, but extra time with the samples does make them easier. I would definitely take him again, good lecturer and friendly!

Tough courses. I thought the second one would be easier than the first but I was wrong. Find yourself a good study partner. He's a great guy, very friendly, and will go out of his way to help you. Tough, but you learn a lot.

He's a nice guy, but his class is insanely difficult. He's teaching way too much for a 100-level class, and he expects you to know so much. Some of us aren't science majors, and some of us just don't care about rocks. I just took it for the GEP. I do like him as a person, but if you're not interested in rocks or science STAY AWAY from his class!

His tests are very difficult, but as many have said - he gives study guides. My best advice - FIND LAB PARTNERS THAT ARE GEOLOGY MAJORS. I would have never passed if it weren't for that. ---- Great professor and a nice, helpful man - I took him at least 2 years ago and he still says hello anywhere he sees me.

I enjoyed Prof. Bauer's class. You had plenty of work to do, but it was manageble. He did a good job of presenting his material in an interesting manner.

Very good professor. Really makes class fun and inspiring. Only bad thing is his rock test are a little bit unfair, because you can study and study and still misidentify some minerals, fossils, and rocks, but overall one of the best instructors ever.

Good teacher, made science interesting. He looks like Billy Zane so if you think he's hot, Dr. Bauer is your man! His tests are difficult so study hard!

I took physical geology with Dr. Bauer, and he was so cool. He was so clear in his explanations, and used slides and stuff...I'm not a science person, and I totally loved his class. And we went on a great trip to Hocking Hills to look at caves.

He's awesome. He expects you to study, but you will learn from him. Never thought I could get excited about geo-formations and all that stuff, but because of his classes, I take nature walks & try to identify rock layers in my spare time.
