The grade you receive for this class is only quizzes and exams. You get practice problems to do that aren't graded. However, you can use a scientific calculator on quizzes and exams. If you do the homework and understand the problems you will do okay. GO to his office hours if you don't understand. He is good at answering questions! STUDY!!!

Dr. Boyle was a very unclear professor. He never explained how to do problems and just expected you to know how to do everything. I would not recommend him for this class to anyone. The worst professor I have ever had.

Very poorly structured and far to challenging for a 100 level math class. I dropped this course after a few weeks and took it at a junior college. Avoid this professor as he is not much better than teaching yourself from the book.

Boyle was awesome. If you do the homework from the textbook and review before a test you will do just fine. This is my second time taking precalc and I am so happy I have Boyle. He is funny and class goes by quick.

He plows through lectures and doesn't seem to keen on explaining himself that often. The quizzes are easy, mainly homework problems. The tests are bananas, he uses them to introduce new ways of using techniques it seems like. Expect to see extremely difficult forms of problems you have done before. You really need to memorize the homework

If you're one of those people that just get math then this is the class for you. He did not explain how he did certain problems and he was never clear. The quizzes were the worst because he is not even sure himself on what to put on it. Be prepare to teach yourself in this class because he does a terrible job at it.

He likes his dry humor...a lot. Do the homework for his little quizzes but the homework wont help you at all on tests. He grades very generously to make up for his ridiculous tests

He was alright, pretty boring so I fell asleep during most classes. Quizzes on Thursdays and tests every fourth Thursday. No surprises ever, I probably would have done better if I did the homework.

I was really nervous to take Boyle from all the reviews on here, and the few people I met that had him and dropped him. Surprisingly, he ended up being my favorite professor! He goes on random rambles that make no sense, but they made me laugh. When he teaches you can hear the passion and excitement in his voice! He gives a lot of partial credit

He knows a lot about math in general, not how to teach it. Lecture is kind of useless, if you can teach yourself everything you would be fine. Weekly quizes are nothing like the homework, same as exams, nothing like what is covered in class.

The absolute worst professor/teacher that I have ever had. It astounds me that Boyle has held his job here at La Crosse for more than his first contract allowed him to. DO NOT take any of his classes unless you learn best by watching someone scribble their own nonsense problems on the board and then solve them themselves.

DO NOT TAKE HIM! I loved math & was always really good at it until this course. Literally does not teach material; he writes a bunch of nonsense on the board and expects you to follow. I did all hw, went to the tutors and peer reviews and barely passed. Went to office hours after failing an exam and he told me I had to have tried to do that bad.

I really enjoyed Dr. Boyle as a professor. His dry sense of humor never got old and he was as approachable as any professor I've ever met. Granted, it was difficult to follow his lectures occasionally as they are rather boring. However, he makes the material about as interesting as he can. Recommend.

DO NOT TAKE IF YOU CAN. I easily got an A in AP Calc in high school but I'm lucky if I passed pre-calc with him. Doesn't convey topics well. Exams and quizzes are nothing like what you do in class. Never has class involvement, he just writes the problems on the board and solves them himself. Google taught me more than he did.

Jeff Boyle was a poor instructor. He is not a good teacher. He does examples which are different from homework problem and exams. He's just not capable of communicating the material to the class very well. I would not recommend him if there is a choice.

TERRIBLE teacher. Knows his stuff but does not know how to teach it. Quiz every week and they're always harder than the examples in class. Really boring. I aced pre-calc and calc in hs and still struggled with understanding him.

I took calculus in high school but got stuck taking precalc in college. Boyle made me feel like I knew absolutely nothing about math. Graphing calculators are prohibited. Super hard exams.
