Has a ton of quizzes on Canvas so be prepared for a whole lot of reading. Quizzes are open book, but timed so you better take notes. Presentations are somewhat helpful, but not that important for quizzes. Midterm and final are very huge to grade, so be prepared for serious note taking. Nice guy though, very concerned with students learning.

When assigning papers his expectations are unclear which was quite frustrating. He also takes weeks to return graded assignments. Offers office hours, but he's rarely in his office and he has to reschedule.

A LOT of reading coming your way if you take REL101. A 750 page book that your final paper is over, along with a 30 page chapter and quiz every week. No thanks. Lectures can be interesting but mainly dry. I was not personally interested though it was just a gen-ed for me. If you miss class good luck getting what you missed. Don't skip.

You know, I had a quarter full of horrible professors but Dr. Dippmann was not of them. It was probably the highlight of the day. I didn't know anything about religion, especially anything outside Christianity, Judaism, or Islam. So to be presented a bias-free interpretation was absolutely amazing. Get him as a professor, it's worth it.

Took him for RELS102. He doesn't post his lecture notes online so if you miss class you have to converse with your classmates. This is the only downside to his class. He tends to move quick so be ready to take avid notes. He also assigns a text book with 2 essays the whole quarter so stay on the reading. Take advantage of office hours. Good prof.

One of the most knowledgeable professors on campus. His lectures can be very long though because he tries to fit in as much as possible. His tests are easy if you show up, but you will bomb if you don't show up.

For tests: standard sized note card with notes on one side. He gives a study guide prior to this and you can usually fit all the answers on one side of the note card He's very helpful if you have questions, doesn't mind if you miss class every once in a while, but don't do that. All you have to do to get an A is go to class and follow directions

He is a cool professor but you better be ready to work. His lectures are very dull and long, but they're very important. The key to getting an A in his class is taking good notes, staying motivated, and attending class. He's not real strict on attendance but if you miss a day, you'll be so behind. You can use a notecard during exams.

Wow, this professor is too smart for his own good. His classes are a joke. His lectures are extremely long. He lectures throughout the whole class period on most days. He never puts any of the slides online. If you miss one day of class, you're screwed. He is too old school for me. What I mean by that, is all he does is lecture. It's ridiculous.

I have enormous respect for Dr. Dippman. With religion being a potentially controversial subject, he did an amazing job at presenting an unbiased, informative lesson on various religions. "If you walk out of this room on the last day of the quarter and not know what I believe, I've done my job." Weekly vocab quizzes, essay-based exams.

He's clear & concise. He is passionate about what he teaches and is unbiased. There were weekly tests, but as long as you studied, you would do fine. The assignments and tests were reasonable. I would recommend professor Dippmann to anyone in a heartbeat, if they asked. This man deserves a raise, because whatever CWU is paying him is not enough.

Dippmann is the man, super approachable and engaging with the class. He has clear passion for the subject, the class is challenging if you do not engage in discussion, ASK QUESTIONS, Phil is hard in general so be sure to get involved if you need more explanation. Gave all take home tests ( not typical) Read the book and dont skip the summaries!

Though I took this course only for basic requirements, I enjoyed the materials we learned in class. Other than the brutal tests and long vigorous book reviews, he is a more than fair grader; you couldn't fail this course if you attend class and do the assignments.

He is very smart and well educated on the subject. Teaches the class in what I think is the best way possible. Just wants to educate you on religions, not sway you. Gives you all the resources you need to succeed in the class. Not easy though, you have to really put forth your best effort, and if you do I think you'll feel accomplished.

This class was just ok. Dippmann is a nice guy but the pure lecture off the screen style got dull. In the way he taught the class, it didn't lend itself well to discussion. His slides can also be kind of tough to follow because there will be like 100 bullet points. I would recommend if you already have an interest in the topic, otherwise, avoid.
