Comment:

Interesting guy, lectures are always fun. He doesn't use textbooks for his classes usually, just a few novels that are usually in the public domain for free use anyways, so if you want to not spend extra textbook $, this is your guy. Interactive lectures, society discussions of the time -- he makes it easy to connect things. Absolutely AWESOME guy.

I really liked this professor, you take a lot of notes but it's good because the more you take down the better off you will be on the Midterm and the paper. You read a lot of interesting articles and have to write 1 page reflections on them or answer questions for homework, really opinion based. There were two books to read nothing major. So sweet.

Comment:

One of the best of UNCG, Professor Jones is up there with the most caring people there are. He explains everything very well so there is no confusion. Even if you do not like history, he can make almost anything interesting. Does not grade hard and extremely easy to talk to. He also gives great input back on papers. SEVERELY RECOMMEND

Jeff Jones is a great professor! If you take this class, be ready to read and write a lot. You are expected to read about 5 books during the semester and write papers on each. You will also read articles and watch movies and write papers for those as well. He's a pretty lenient grader though, as long as you show up and try you'll get an A.

Comment:

History minor here. I had only one class with Dr. Jones, but he is one of the best professors I have ever had. Period. Interesting, caring, and definitely knowledgeable about his field. Loved the videos he showed before class. He and Dr. Barton make me wish I had majored in History instead. Does not require attendance but yes to make a good grade.

Dr. Jones makes history pretty interesting even if it isn't really your thing. He gives very helpful study guides for the midterm and final and as long as you take notes on the lectures you should be fine. The drawback of this course is that there are a lor of readings and short writing assignments.

Jones can be summed up in 4 words: what a great person. He really cares about you and wants you to do well. Go talk to him. He is approachable, friendly, and wants you to succeed. He is very knowledgeable and surprisingly funny. I would highly recommend his classes.

He is a very kind and knowledgeable teacher. His lectures can be a bit dry in the way they are organized, but I learned lots of interesting things and he works to break class up with discussions and fascinating videos. He's not strict on attendance, but it is better to be there for the material. No textbook, but lots of mostly interesting reading.

Dr. Jones is not only a silver fox but a great lecturer and a wonderful human being. Take his class if you have the opportunity; even non majors love him. He structures the class, goes over when things are due, and is there to help you learn. Don't be afraid to talk to him; he's the type of professor you'd like to get a beer with.

I wasn't expecting to write so much in this class! It should definitely be marked as writing intensive. His lectures are pretty clear and he makes it interesting. Most of the grading goes through the TA's, so hope you get a good one.

I love love love Jeff Jones, he is an amazing professor! Very flexible, intelligent and a complete sweetheart. Even though he obviously teaches large classes, he still tries to remember his student's names which to me seems like he's a genuinely nice guy. i will be taking any other classes taught by him in the future.

I enjoy history but with two days of lecture and one day of discussion, it was easy. There is a lot of reading but he does not use a textbook. The resources are news articles, movies, and novels. Fun class.

Jones is a really good professor. There is a lot of reading and work for this class, but I made a good grade and didn't do many of the discussion boards. Jones knows a lot about everything, so overall a good class.
