This class goes deep into history and you have to be ready to read a lot. He grades a bit tough and expects a lot from the free response questions on his tests. He really expects you to know history well and explain it with concrete details. He tends to go off topic at times which can be hard to keep up with. Hes very sarcastic and funny though.

Lawler is a great professor who is very knowledgeable, and passionate, about the subject he teaches. He posts the readings online because they come from multiple sources and you take notes on them, then discuss them in the next class. Straightforward grader with very doable assignments IF you do the readings and participate in class.

If you're a liberal studies major, you will probably have a tougher time in his class. He isn't very clear on his expectations, so getting an A on his papers very difficult. Attending class isnt really necessary except for the days you do in class work. Other than that read the book and ppts and you'll get a solid B.

Liberal Studies majors, don't take him. This class is unnecessarily difficult and he's super unclear of his expectations. I typically do well on papers, but his lack of directions made it difficult to pass. Class is composed of 3 essays, 3 in class group projects, 1 web page, and 1 midterm. Not worth the stress, take someone else!

Lectures arent mandatory. You do have assigned books and you dont really need the online textbook as long as you have the lecture notes. One homework assignment for each unit and its not too difficult. Lets you use a notecard on the midterm and final.

Textbook isn't needed, but if you do want to it's online anyways. Has you read 3 short novels with long response questions for each, 2 written exams. Every other 2 weeks there's facilitator sessions that help you with the novels and questions. Overall, the class was enjoyable for me because he's pretty chill and has interesting lectures.

Great sense of humor, gives specific study guides that exactly like the tests. Show up to review sessions and do the facilitator sessions and you will easily pass. Novels are easy to read, make sure to use quotes when writing historical thinking responses. Highly suggest Lawler if you don't want a lot of work.

this was probably the most boring class i have ever taken. He talks all through lecture that you're basically falling asleep. You do not have to go to class just for the facilitator sessions, and he also gives study guides. it was a pretty easy class.

He has a very dry humor that most of the bad reviewers dont understand. Hes very nice!! Easily got a B+. Put in a little effort & u will have an A. We had 4 essays (1 for each book we read), & 4 group work assignments (i did mine alone, he didnt care). Just follow his directions and ur golden. I hardly went to class, i passed easily.

BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never know what hes talking about because he gets off topic a lot. If you hate history this class will be super boring, but if you love it then you will love his class. Overall he a super chill teacher not much work only when you go with your facilitator.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He lectures in circles, and barely uses the powerpoint. There's tons of reading, and you can't do the essays or group work without the book. He's unapproachable, and it's hard to follow the material

The class was in a big lecture hall so it was very hard to communicate with the professor. I sent him a couple emails with questions and I never got a reply. This class also requires a lot of group work which is difficult in the beginning but easy to adjust to. There is a lot of reading, but its nice that the textbook is online.

Just show up to class, take group quizzes and you'll pass. He has one midterm (you can use front and back of a notecard) and the final is an essay which he gives you months to do. He was very nice, funny and helpful. I'd love to take another one of his classes in the future.

Professor lawyer is an easy professor. He does give random extra credit opportunities. Weekly quizzes that can be found on the internet. The exam is literally the study guide. He is super easy. very straight forward on what he wants. Really easy class.

If you hate history, this is the class for you! All you have to do is take weekly online quizzes, 3 in class assignments, 1 midterm, and 1 final. He lets you use the front and back of an index card for his tests; both are essay-only tests. He gives out A LOT of extra credit. I hate history and somehow managed to get an A in his class.

He was a good teacher and clear on what he wanted. Handed out the study guides for both short essay midterm and final. (only 2 tests) There were two group assignments throughout the semester only one class period, and not mandatory to work with others. Weekly quizzes which are easy. As long as you show up to class and listen, you can get an A.

Lawler can come off as an intimidating guy, but if you get to talk to him he is actually really nice and unders tanding. Group projects are the basis of your grade and the essays aren't too bad. He really wants you to think in depth about what he is trying to get across. Be ready for plenty of questions!

Very nice guy, tests aren't too hard and he is clear about what he wants. Not the easiest class, but anyone can receive an A if they put in enough work. On the other hand if you are a remember some dates and names and know what points to hit you don't need to study much.

Pay attention in class and take your time during in-class assignments. Easy to pass if you try. Textbook probably needed if you want an A. 1 midterm (all short answeressay), 1 final (all short answeressay), easy online quizzes and a little more challenging in-class assignments. Cool guy and interesting lectures.
