Dr. Newman can be a tough professor, but he's very clear. His goal is to teach you everything you need to know to move on to the next course or graduate school. His lectures contain almost everything you need to know for the exams, and be prepared to study. But... if you study, show up to lectures and lab, put in time and effort you will do well.

Every morning, Dr. Newman is hopping with energy. He is enthusiastic, and cares about each of his students. If you're struggling with a topic, he's sure to help explain things to you. Great teacher... I will miss him next semester!

Comment:

He is enthusiastic about his job, and generally enjoys questions. It is important however to study for exams and to read over PowerPoint notes for clicker quizzes. Lab quizzes are very specific and hard. I generally enjoyed him as a teacher, and was very helpful when I went in for extra help.

To sum Newman up, he's an arrogant ****. Bio 110 is hard as hell and the man has no interest in his students unless they are Bio wizards. I was very interested in being a biology major until I took his class. Now, my major has changed completely. I failed every exam after hours of studying. If you can help it, don't schedule a Newman class.

Great teacher...enthusiastic, nice, down to earth, very helpful (he actually wants to help you!), gives outlines and examples (always helpful)...but, he's a picky test grader, so go to the study groups. Overall, one of the best teachers I've ever had.

Class was a lot of work, but interesting and I learned alot. The exams are tough, but the lab and prep papers help. He always does helpful review sessions before the exam and will explain things one-on-one if you don't understand. I liked the class.

As with all 110 courses his is really easy, no worries about study group, as long as you pay attention you'll do fine, I never attented a study group and got a 95%, I don't know what the rest of these people are talking about. The powerpoints tell you everything you need to know, he even gives you a copy of the powerpoint.

Go to study groups. If you need help get a tutor. I would advise not going to himfor help because he is not clear in explaining things. But it is an interesting class. Dont be afraid to ask questions either he loves questions, plus it kills time. :)

This class was as invigorating as a conversation with a brick. It's so boring. The class is very straightforward, though. Just study the power points, which can sometimes be slightly confusing, and you'll do fine on the test. Go to the review session things. They're very helpful.
