Comment:
Professor Isaac is extremely arrogant is unapproachable. He doesn't use PowerPoint, instead he just rambles for over an hour. Reading is ridiculous for a 200 level course. Grades consist of a midterm and a final which are graded toughly. Avoid unless you are extremely interested in the course material.

Views are ridiculously liberal. Blind to open discussion on FACTS. Abused his position to intimidate if you disagree with his position.

I can understand that his approach to teaching may not be for everyone, but if you genuinely have an interest in the subject he is lecturing on, and appreciate someone who truly knows and cares about what they're talking about, don't miss the (fairly rare) chance to take a class with him. Great guy who appreciates students that want to succeed.

Sort of cynical toward student, but also very genuine, caring, and extremely knowledgeable about class topics. His lectures were very interesting w/o powerpoints to distract, but he assigned a ridiculous amount of reading for a 200 level. Gave basically no busy work and only a midterm and final. Decent guy

Prof. Isaac's lecture are extremely long and dull. No visual aids and nothing to follow along with, just a lot of him talking at you. He can be quite snarky and he comes of as arrogant at times. Seems to genuinely care about the subject, but unless you are very into it yourself and willing to do a ton of busy work, don't take this class.

Kind of a jerk but not a bad teacher, exams directly reflect the material covered in class

Very snarky and unpleasant. Always in a bad mood and he plugs his jazz band whenever he can.

Comment:
Lectures are long and tedious, he can sometimes come off as mean or aloof, and when he calls on people he often makes them sound stupid, and makes biting comments about people that are funny but mean. The grades are all midterm and final, and those are graded roughly. I'd say stay away if the topic isn't immensely fascinating to you

I had him a few years ago. He was not helpful or clear. Plus, he would not allow students to ask questions during his lecture. I was considering grad school in political science until I had this guy.

I think Proff. Isaac is really smart and challenging. If you come to him on a personal level for help, he will find a way to do it. For those who say he is pompous, they obviously aren't attending class, because he just isn't like that! He assigns lots of reading, but it winds up paying off when you do your dissert. He is an amazing teacher.

pretentious and arrogant. he likes the sound of his own voice and discussion is dominated by him and any students who also happen to be pompous windbags. For the amount of reading and writing you're expected to do, you'll learn very little, My most valuable lesson from his class: tenured professors who publish a lot tend to be bad teachers. Other than 1 or 2 kids who were his obvious favorites, he paid little attention to the students.

Extremely smart, energetic, and passionate, if a little scattered at times. He comes into discussions with the goal of challenging you, so don't expect an easy A. But the payoff is enormous, if you're willing to put yourself out there.

He lost my final project. Told me I didn't turn it in, later he found it. He never appologized. I would have just let it go at simple mistake but he was a total jerk about it. I had to get the dean of Poly Sci in on the situation to get my A. Stay clear!

Modern Political Thought. It's a dry subject. But Dr. Isaac presented as well as anyone could! Very understandable and willing to help.
