Prof. B is very passionate about geometry but sometimes his mind is working faster than his mouth/hand and it can be hard to understand him. Be weary of his grading on tests and quizzes. If you don't study or go to him for additional help, you won't pass. Best advice: study, study, study, everyday- especially the propositions.

Professor Barrett is a great guy! Don't be scared away by some of his negative ratings. His class is definitely challenging, but if you take the time to go into office hours and ask questions he is more than willing to take 30-60 minutes to help you. Most important thing is go to class. If you don't go you won't pass this course. He is great though

He is very nice and wants you to do well. However, he doesn't take the time to help you fully understand things. Every class is rushed. He assigns so much to get through that you never get through it all, and most of the time I was left being very confused. Tests are 55% of your grade, so you need to study!

He wasn't the most terrible professor I've had, but he wasn't the best. He is a very tough grader when it comes to quizzes and tests, and can be confusing sometimes about material. This is actually my second time taking his class because of a grade issue. It also helps to go into his office hours and to keep up on studying and the homework.

Prof Barrett is nice person. He really does want to see everyone do well in his class. However MAT 131 is not an easy class with him. You really have to put the time in to the class. Reviewing your notes basically everyday. The content I will never use again, but I do have an A in the class- only because of the countless hours of studying.

He is a very nice guy but a terrible teacher. He tries to help the education majors by teaching them how to teach, but it doesn't help anybody. He acts like he knows what he is doing but just explains things for too long and confuses you even more. You learn about Euclid and it is completely irrelevant to anything you've ever done. DO NOT take it!!

Where to start? Barrett instructed a math methods class that took place during the summer (4 weeks). He assigned 8-10 page papers due in a few days. His instructions was vague at best. He made me feel disconnected by the middle of the class. The only way he was a good teacher was as an example of how to teach was being an example of how NOT to

About 4 exams but they're very lengthy. Most students didn't usually finish in the allotted time and it covers a lot of different material. Don't take him if you don't like memorizing proofs.

He's a nice guy, and he tries really hard, but I would avoid taking his class if you can. He's a bit disorganized and easily distracted. He never accomplishes what he plans to If you get his class, make sure you ASK QUESTIONS. He's more than willing to talk about literally anything, but you have to keep the discussion timely because he won't.

I loved Professor Barrett! Take him for 131 if you can!! He goes over the topics and reviews lessons multiple times throughout the time you are learning them. He is also VERY helpful at his office hours. If you study regularly the tests won't be hard at all

Mr.Barret is not as bad as people say he is! He is actually the best Math 131 teacher at ISU. I even missed class (a little to much) and I still passed with a C. I would have had a B if i never missed class or his quizzes. Oh, and his grading scale isn't bad. Its just different.

He was an awesome teacher! You need to go to class to understand what is going on but he is really helpful! You need the book for a few homework assignments. I personally am not very good at math but I did better in this class then I thought I would. If you can take him over anyone else!!

This class in general is challenging. I took this class with the other professor and had to retake it and this guy knows what he is talking about. He makes sure you understand what he is teaching you. He holds group sessions every week. A really nice guy. If you have the choice between him and anyone else, choose him.

one of the worst teachers i've ever had. i've usually been fairly good at math, but with him it was tough. very disorganized. there were a few people in the class that did well 'cause they were naturally good at math. i hardly knew what to do and he would go off on different tangents and make everything confusing. this class was harder than mat 130

He does not explain the material well at all! He makes the class try and answer their own questions and he goes on random tangents about stuff that has nothing to do with the material that will be covered on the test! He constantly refers to a computer program by the name of the guy NICK who created it. Its actually scary! Avoid this class if u can
