Comment:

He's smart but simply so old and boring. There's 3 tests (80 multiple choice questions each) and a paper. All the test answers are straight from the textbook. The lectures have nothing to do with the paper or tests so you can just bring your laptop and do other stuff while he talks as long as you read the textbook later.

Comment:

Prof Cohen is one of the best poli sci professors at Fordham. He may be a bit boring at some times, but his lectures are all you need to know for the tests (he gives you the questions to study from). Makes jokes that are so bad, they're good.

Dr. Cohen is one of my favorite professors at Fordham and my advisor. He is a fair grader and if you do the reading, pay attention to his instructions on the papers and participate in class you'll get an A for sure. He is a sweet man and is also very funny, constantly making jokes at his own expense in class. I will be taking him again for AmPres.

Comment:

Cohen is a nice old man but his lectures are boring and the tests are pretty much just based on the textbook. Going to class is mandatory but feels unnecessary because his lectures won't help you pass. You just have to read the book. 3 tests, all multiple choice and he curves them. 2 papers which aren't related to the material at all.

Up there as one of the worst professors I have taken EVER. Extremely extremely rude to students who need extra help and doesn't make an effort to help you outside of class. He lectures straight from the book, so reading is a must. Please, save yourself from boredom and having to deal with him if you need help in office hours. doesnt take attendance

Easiest class I've had so far at Fordham. 2 "midterms" and 1 "final" for which he gives the entire test bank, so you just memorize the answers. I actually enjoyed writing the papers (3 of them for a total of 15+ pages) and got As on each without doing rewrites. You only have to read the textbook chapter for each class, but most didn't read it.

Professor Cohen was a great guy and as long as you did well on the essays you were set. He was a really nice man who could get boring at times but always would joke around in class. Worth taking and his midterm and final were pretty easy as well. Overall a good experience, highly recommend

Comment:

Took him for American Presidency and Political Analysis. He is -by far- my favorite professor at Fordham and the smartest in the department. Grades are almost 100% based on essays and class participation. Constantly makes jokes about himself to see who laughs so he can tell who is listening, so pay attention. A++++, amazing prof.

American Presidency - he wrote the textbook, which isn't bad because it's essentially the lecture notes for the class. take home midterm/final but he doesn't collect all of the essays you answer (he collects two or three at random), so your grade reflects half of the work you do. just use his book as your source for everything and you'll be fine.

Grad Pub Pol - Very, very organized. Smooth delivery, good personality, humor. Papers graded fairly. Lots of reading - normal for grad school. Very commited to his beliefs about Republican party. Sometimes felt that he strived to avoid things that brought left wing into the conversation. No direct attacks though. Unusual. Recommend.

Most narrow minded and intellectually limiting Prof. in the dept. Very limited in breadth and depth of this fascinating topic. Likes to hear himself talk, speaks alot without saying anything. Condescending, inappropriate, rude, shallow. Never has my intelligence been so in****ed since the 2nd grade. PoliSci isn't about regurgitating. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Hahaha wow I'm sure glad I didn't take the class the person two posts down did. Cohen is cool I guess in his own right, but the class itself just isn't that exciting. Spit out info on take home midterm/final which is 4 papers of which he takes 2 of his choice; you're required to quote from his books. Overall, not stimulating. Look elsewhere.

Hysterical man, def won't fall asleep in class. He's organized, gives good notes, is usually in a good and humorous mood. Class discussions are interesting. He does assign a lot of reading, including newspaper articles, but that wouldn't stop me from taking him again. Midterm-take home essays (a lot of work, but he's a fair grader). Take him!
