Jeff is easily one of the most friendly and easygoing people you will ever meet. The classes are small - about 25 people - and he takes the time to get to everyone well. He's so into what he's teaching that you will probably enjoy every lecture. He's known for landing people Venture Capital funding and internships upon graduation.

The group project in this class was the hardest thing I have done in my college career. I ended up doing the majority of the work (typical in group projects) and was incredibly stressed. This is not an easy A, I definetly put a lot of work into the class in order to earn my grade. He's very repetitive and particular about certain things.

Hanson is the best professor I have ever had at UCSB. I learned so many things in his classes which have already helped me in my future. For 105ps you only have 3, 3 minute presentations. Before I took the class, I hated public speaking, but after learning the strategies from this class I feel more comfortable speaking in front of people

You learn skills applicable in the "real world" in his classes. Go to office hours! It's extremely useful & he is an overall great person to talk to.

Very useful class! Jeff teaches you real life skills that will help you in your everyday life and after grad. Get to class early! It will be advantageous. Class is repetitive, but necessary, as are OFFICE HOURS. A LOT OF GROUP WORK. If you hate group projects, AVOID. If you are afraid of public speaking, dont be afraid to take this class. It helps!

There truly aren't words that accurately describe the profound impact Jeff has had on me. I took both Writing 107B and Writing 105PS with him and these have been THE most practical classes I have ever taken. Jeff motivates you to do well not only in his class, but in all areas of your life. He is, without a doubt, the best professor I've ever had.

The best professor I've had at UCSB! I 100% recommend taking one of his classes. In 107G you are required to turn in a resume. Yesterday I applied for 2 internships using tweaked versions of that same resume and received emails back today ! Take his class !!!

Grading is pretty much based on efforts.(it's not hard to get an A) must take his class if you're looking for easy-going and helpful professor.

THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD AT UCSB. He is so passionate about writing and helping his students succeed. Not only is this class very helpful but Jeff is always available to help his students. This class does require some work but most of the assignments are very helpful in the long run (resumes, cover letters, etc.) Take this class!

He is an amazing professor. He is so helpful, it's ridiculous. He is always available outside of class and answers all your questions not just about his class but about his life, his work, majors, careers, and much more. He does not take attendance in class but I didn't miss a single one. By far, one of the best professors of my college career.

Loved this class with Hanson. He's a great professor. He loves his job and really cares about his students. I would not say this class is the hardest; however, it is very time consuming. Instead of a bus plan, we did a manual about bus communication in diff countries. 35% of grade is with a team. Prepare to spend a lot of time meeting outside class

Professor Hanson was such a valuable asset to my experience at UCSB. I have told many of my friends to take 109EC from him. I have improved my grammar, writing style, public speaking and team leadership skills exponentially, all thanks to Jeff. Great Professor. He really cares about his students and has a great personality. He definitely challenges you, but his knowledge and experience makes the class worth it. His stories about his career experience make you remember why you want to major in Business. He seems to be a genuinely nice person.
