Pretty nice teacher. However, she is a tough grader. Expects you to remember lots of details from the reading. All in all, reading all the material and trying your best will earn you an A. I advice meeting with her during office hours is the best course of action.

I enjoy the class, but her grading is ridiculously hard.. I can't believe how I recieved a C on every paper I had to write for her. I've been known as a great writer in grade school and high school and was always acknowledged for it with awards & even won best essay in polish school that was written in the Polish language.. I feel terrible.

I'm taking her for summer school for a world mythology class. Yes she does explain the material. But she has no time management skills what so ever. She is rude to her students. She believes her interpretation is correct and no one else is ever right. She will cut you off mid sentence and tell you she doesn't want to hear your input.

She was okay. Sometimes you learned a lot, and other times not so much. I think it like depended on her mood and also if she knew the book. I would have liked my backround on the different books. Nice lady though.

She doesn't like to keep with the text which can be good or bad. It allows for a lot of thematic discussion but prevents factual learning. She values creativity but requires a large amount of evidence in papers. A fair grader, it is difficult to get back information from her.

Professor Ash is a wonderful lady. She is very kind and well-read. For some reason, however, I can not shake the feeling that she never really expanded my knowledge of the texts we covered in our class. I'm sure it's more that she didn't want to influence individual interpretations rather than a lack of knowledge, but I would have appreciated more

Whoever said she is a hard grader probably just sucks at honors. She grades fairly--if you write a good paper, you'll get a good grade. She lets the class steer the class--if you want to work, you'll work, if you want to goof off you'll goof off. Up to you to decide if that's a good or bad thing.

I loved this class. Seriously. This was probably one of the best classes I've taken at Loyola. I'm not even an english/womens studies major/minor and I LOVED this class. Dr. Ash is incredibly sweet, funny, and unpretentious. She allows everyone to have their opinion. I enjoyed coming to this class and it always brightened my day.

Best UCWR teacher I've heard of! Very fun and interesting class and makes sure your papers (4 throughout the semester) are very fun and easy to write. Topics: Simpsons, Matrix, American Beauty, Sexual Advertisements.

Among the best of my college profs, Dr. Ash teaches discussion-heavy classes but doesn't expect you to think as she does. She wants you to think deeply for yourself and to support your own well-developed arguments. She doesn't just say she wants this; she actually teaches in a way that allows it. Kind, with no apparent ego. Highly recommended.

The class felt like a book club. We discussed major issues throughout each novel. We had 3 papers to write, and few 1 page response papers. The final was a paper was well, but you also have the option of doing a project. No tests. I really like Dr. Ash, I was sick multiple times during the semester and she was very accomadating.

She is the most understanding teacher I have ever had! Was super nice, really cares about students. She has a lot of interesting ideas, and even better is that most of her classes involve watching movies! If have the chance, definetly take one of her classes. Easy and fun
