Straight forward class. Don't need to necessarily show up for class, but make sure to do all outside readings she assigns. Tests are fairly easy as long as you have done the reading. This helps because she assigns online quizzes every week too. There is one short (2 pg) paper.

Ignore those who whine about this professor. She's quirky, but truly loves what she does. Her passion for the course shows and she's very interesting and the course is interactive. You need the book for papers, of course, but go to class and take notes. Great class, I hope to take her again.

Had her for intro to crim. She's an AWESOME teacher. She's great to talk to outside of lectures if you need clarification or just want to expand on a topic of interest. Come to lecture and pay attention, and you can afford to skip the readings. The weekly quizzes were unneeded in my opinion, but otherwise I have nothing bad to say about her methods

An unfortunate teacher for a class that had a lot of potential. One'd be best served not attending her lectures and spending the time reading the course materials instead. She was also rather rude/inconsiderate about addressing concerns about the course. People interested in the topic should instead opt for a professor who will actually teach it.

Class is not as easy as it seems with her. She is a nice person and has alot of interesting things to say. But as a teacher, those things didnt really matter when it came to the test. Barely went over readings.ALOT of readings. On top of two books, there are an average of 7 online readings a week.test ques. were general but misleading.

She loves her subject, and she is very straightfoward. A lot of readings that posted on the eee. Quiz every week and 2 papers. She uses eee a lot. Discussion is mandantory. Second half of quarters had lots of guest speakers which is nice, but kinda difficult to follow up. NO study guide. I like her personality but not for teaching.

Professer is very into the subject of the class and is a great speaker in lecture. Class is not an easy A. Be prepared to do a lot of reading and take a weekly quiz. 2 papers - 2 pg requirement - easy to do. Tests were ok but some questions seemed to be misleading and hard to understand. Didn't curve the midterm and dosen't offer extra credit.

Class is very straightforward, very few assignments, and tests are multiple choice. However, she tends to discuss too much opinion and very little fact - which can be a problem come finals. Nice woman, but just disorganized.

I've taken all of Jen's classes at UCI. You learn a lot from her. All of her classes blend in together as far as topics go. Get ready to write at least 4 papers during the quarter, but forget about midterms and finals. You don't even have to show up for class. She's extremely helpful and nice outside of the classroom too!

The "textbook" for this class is cheap; the rest of the reading is online. Reading quizzes once a week and the option of participating in discussion once a week OR an online forum once a week. Engaging, easy to understand, you will enjoy this class if you have an interest in the subject. You either love this class or you hate it. Great professor!

She is one of the best professors I have had at UCI. She is so passionate about the subject and is a really good lecturer. She is also really helpful if you go into office hours. She is not a hard grader and gives you lots of feed back. She is really honest and cares about her students. The reading is interesting, too.

I absolutely loved her class! She is a great professor! I decided to switch majors to Criminology, Law and Society after taking C7 with her! :) Go to lecture and take notes, and be sure to read the articles just to get a sense of what they are about. 2 papers, 1 midterm, 1 final, and quizzes once a week on Fridays. Great class! :D

Go to lecture and discussion. Read the intro and conc. to her readings and pay atten to the quiz answers. She isn't going to hand you an A but it is definetely not that much work to receive one. She overemphasizes what you need to know in lecture, offers 5% EC and an EC quiz. Not to mention she put old quiz questions on the final. EASY EASY EASY.

This professor has an awkward personality, but her exams are pretty straight forward. She hates answering emails and is extremely rude. Makes you wonder why she even wants to lecture. Just make sure to do all the readings. You don't even need to come to class.

Her readings are ridiculously long, and they are a complete waste of time. Go to lecture and take good notes and email your TA for questions. dont email her, she takes forever to respond and gives you crap for emailing her. there weekly quizzes that are super detailed. however, the final and midterm are pretty straight-forward.

I enjoyed this class... good lecturer..she tried to crack jokes sometimes, I was never bored. There is A LOT of reading, but she gives you the articles onilne.... save $$. Mandatory discussion not always helpful. Weekly quizes online. Midterm was pretty easy, 2-2page papers. Take her, you wont fall asleep

Its kinda sad to see all these hateful and bad comments. She isnt that bad at all. I liked how she is very energetic and keeps most of us awake. I think it is the material that is hard. If you do the readings, go to class, go to discussion you could most likely get an A.

She is a terrible professor. Like others have said, she goes off on random tangents and refuses to post powerpoints beforehand, claiming it's for our "benefit" when it's quite obvious she's just extremely disorganized and lazy. Also seems to take personal offense at receiving emails questioning the grading of her TA's. Ridiculous.
