I had the honour of taking every course that Dr. Smith taught. Also, she supervised my BA thesis. I found her to be brilliant, helpful and really quite kind. What she didn't like were students who didn't work. You haven't studied Canadian politics unless you have studied under her direction.

She got me kicked out of grad school back in 1992 because she hated everything I wrote. I got back in and graduated and have become quite successful. I do not recommend that anyone study under this woman.

She is one of the smartest professors I have had to date, and it is a shame I only discovered her at the end of my undergrad. It is true that she can sometimes forget that she has a PhD and is a published author on Federalism, and expect us to know things that we don't, but she is bright and eager to encourage your understanding. Take this prof!

Dr. Smith is a lovely woman, is an obvious genius, and obviously is very wrapped up in what she does. However, she is slightly scatter-brained, and is sometimes difficult to understand due to her jumping all over the place. She sticks around after class, which was most helpful and had the best discussions. Her outlook on everything is great!

Favorite prof to date. She had great lectures, didnt miss one. Gret essay topics on exams/mid terms, made it easy to write. Fair marker. If you read the textbook and study it then you will be fine, but go to class just to enjoy the entertaining lectures. I would take another course from her just to be in her class.

I thought she was hilarious, somewhat eccentric but in a good way. Maybe avoid for intro classes (cranky at having to teach first year students?, you know you would be too). She was good for constitutional issues. She's a prof that you either really like or dislike.

I went to her for input once, & she snottily replied "Perhaps you shouldn't take my class if you're asking for help". I later learned she was PO'd as the Top Constitutionalist wasn't her, and he hadn't died yet. Smart, but a Royal ****! You're not supposed to eat your young, unless you are afraid of what they know about you....

Kids, this woman has more going on in her head than you'll ever be able to appreciate. A brilliant, demanding, hilarious professor... don't hold it against her if you can't keep up. Work hard, think before you speak, and you'll be rewarded. Best prof I've ever had.

boring and confusing come to mind when i think of this class. Last year I took her intro poli sci class and had a awful time. She knows what she is talking about, but the class is unorganized. Her lectures are hard to follow, and she isnt always clear with things.

Dr. Smith takes just a little gettting used to, but wants she gets into constitutional territory she's smokin'. Very clear and wise understanding of how governments really function. When things get more theoretical, she gets a bit confusing, but if your goal is to understand government she's great.

Hated this teacher at first but grew to worship her. Seems unclear and cold, but is actually very ethusiastic and helpful...she has high standards and students can mistake this for being short or curt, but she is definitely worth having.
