Had Dr Abercrombie for Calculus II back in 1994. Great teacher, who wanted students to participate. Need assistance? Just stop by his office. Years ago, from what I understand, he worked on calculations for moon landings during the Apollo program. Dr Abercrombie also has a sense of humor; he once walked in class wearing a wig for fun; hilarious.

He was so confusing and his tests were really difficult. I studied for his final for like 7 hours and it was by far one of the hardest math tests I have ever taken.

Abercrombie is an awesome professor! If you are a math major or math-oriented, then I highly recommend him. He wants to see his students exceed and do well. He tries to teach what is relevant to the real world and other math courses. I took as many courses as I could from Abercrombie.

class not easy. must put effort. made an a b/c of a good math background. Book necessary to work problems. sometimes have to self teach myself lessons. don't be afraid to ask questions. if he knows you're trying he's more willing to help you out. only about 3/4 test. Must do good on majority of tests. attendance mandatory if you want to do well

Only grade you will get are for your tests. if you mess up on those you mess up in class. do not take out your phone because he will get upset. i would not recommend this class to anyone, i had to drop it because i made a d in the class. impossible.

Abercrombie knows his stuff, but he can sometimes be a little unclear. He is also very old-fashioned, and teaches like an instructor in a 19th century school-house. With that said, it wasn't a terrible class. He was pretty helpful, as long as you were persistent. His answers were often impertinent to the question. Communication was the main issue.

My personal favorite math teacher at JSU. Lost as all get out, but if he sees you coming to class and doing the homework..he'll likely pass you. (unless it's part of a continuous math series, he won't put you ahead if he doesn't think you'll pass the next math in line!)

I really think that people are exaggerating how difficult he is. His tests... are very comprehensive, but short and to the point. He takes his time to explain anything students don't understand, and tries his best to not leave people behind. I have a bit of advice though: learn the definitions! Simply knowing what the new terms mean makes a difference of night and day in this class, and definitions are extremely important in linear algebra anyway.

I had Dr. Abercrombie for several graduate level math courses. He is one of the best teachers that I ever had. He expects you to do what he asks he is always willing to help. He will not baby you but then again, college instructors shouldn't be expected to. I learned volumes from him and I know that he could teach me volumes more.

This guy is awesome. He is very helpful if you take interest in his class. He has been a devoted teacher at JSU for like 40 year. He know his stuff. I had him for multiple classes. IF you want something to complain about, take Dodd or Leathrum.

He teaches right from the book. You do have to attend, and you must do your homework. If you don't attend class, he will not help you out. He gives it to you straight so be prepared. If you can't handle this math, maybe you aren't in the right field.

I had to teach myself in this class. He either didn't go over the homework or didn't teach it clearly. He thinks you should already know the material and that it should be easy to you. He rambles and tells you that you won't have a job unless you are a nurse. I do not recommend this teacher.

This man worked for NASA. Of course he thinks the current generation is dumb, because they are. I cannot imagine the disgust of being in education long enough to see our society make itself dumber and lazier, especially coming from his background. he doesn't move on until everyone understands and is more than willing to reexplain things. don't take if you're not good at math; he expects you to be prepared...his only grades are tests. he doesnt grade homework at all, but he assigns it so you still get the material. if you're a good math student, i definitely recommend him. he's great.
