Took Prof. Conway's Nature of Compassion as a core Ethical Inquiry Requirement. Very tough grader - have always gotten A's on papers but he consistently gave me B's. Unrealistic reading assignments with materials way over the average student's head (ie. Nussbaum) Students succeed if they mimic everything Prof. Conway says from his perspective.

A very GENUINE professor and person. He will talk to you like you're a real human being whereas alot of profs think they are better than their students. I cannot stress enough how great this professor is. However, this is a real class. Be prepared to read, write, and learn ALOT. He doesnt give A's away but if you deserve an A you will get it!

Had Nature of Compassion w/ Prof. Conway and it was amazing. I took it for credit and ended up wanting to take more. He assigns good reading material and has a fair amount of work (journal entries and 3 four pg papers. He is a respectful and thought provoking professor. Challenging in all the good ways and I would take more classes with him!!

Awesome! He's really got me interested in philosophy. Even his 200-level class was seminar style (even though it says lecture). By the end, kids who were quiet and often didn't speak were joining in. Lots of time to talk after class! Overall, a very interesting class and a very good teacher. He is really focused on making sure you think

Professor Conway is an incredible teacher who really loves what he does. He is very passionate about philosophy and it showed in his Friendship class. You definitely need to work hard to get a good grade, as he makes you think carefully about your words and assignments. In-class participation is a must. Lots of reading, but interesting material.

He expects you to think on your own and motivate yourself. He's not the type of professor who is content with students just trying to give him the answers he's looking for. The word "contemplation" is key. He truly values diversity of opinion and careful thought. If you don't mind a fair amount of reading and writing, then choose Professor Conway.

Professor Conway may be one of the best professors that I have had in my education. The material could be very difficult at times, but it was always interesting and he would always help if it wasn't clear, you just needed to approach him.

A really great professor for a subject such as this is hard to find. He is clearly interested in the texts and applies it to his own life. He is very inspirational and a great listener. Also, his subject matter can sometimes become very intense, so if you're not totally interested in the subject you may find his classes to be confusing.

I definitely recommend this professor. He clearly knows what he?s talking about and he was interesting enough to keep my attention for a 2.5 hour class. The class is a fairly easy grade as long as you show up and actually read the material. If you don?t read the assigned work then he?s likely to find out when he calls on you during class. He?s the

Conway is a great teacher. Read the books and "read between the lines." Don't participate in class if you haven't read the book. He seems to get annoyed that you dumbed up his class. The books get hard to grasp quickly. Get what you can in the beginning because the readings go over your head quickly.

Pro. Conway is one of the best teachers I've encountered in my life. I'm not a PHI major, he doesn't know my name; but he is inspiring. I found myself upset when I couldn't do all the reading. Plan on taking more classes with him. He has a gift that is rare amongst his peers!

Jerry is a fabulous professor. He's soft-spoken and laid-back but very passionate about teaching and learning. He'll make you find the anwers for yourself, but he also lets the students enlighten him, and that's rare. You want this guy to teach you the classics.
