In Honors humanities, every test is an essay test in which we had to prepare 8 essay outlines and then write 2 (his choice) of them on test day which was difficult and took a long time to prepare for. Quizzes were easy if you used your notes from reading it. Lectures were often long and boring with continuous note taking. Never canceled.

Worst teacher I have ever had in my life. No clear grading, does not explain what he wants from assignments, does not teach what he tests over. Most of the time he was only giving his opinion on history, not actually teaching history. Would never take again and feel sorry for everyone to have ever suffered through his classes.

I'm not a history major, but I love history. Soneson is not a historian, he is a philosopher, and Humanities with him is a philosophy course with a little bit of history thrown in. He makes a mockery of history by twisting it and using it only to support his own very specific philosophy. His grading is also very arbitrary and his guidelines unclear

This Prof. expects too much out of his class. There is sometimes more than 4 chapters to read, one quiz, and a chapter book assigned every single week. It is too much work and reading for one student to do in one week. He curves tests which is nice, but overall, I do not recommend unless you are ready to spend most of your time studying his class.

Prof. Soneson was my favorite professor! His lectures are amazing and he's very enthusiastic. I took his honors section, which was very good. I definitely would take him again. I'm not much of a history person and this was one of my favorite classes.

I was a business major at UNI, continued with my MBA and currently working on a double Masters in lnternational Business. Skip this class and your career will be average. Business is easy! People are difficult. Dr. Soneson's classes will give you a small idea of what makes people like they are. If you don't understand people Boyou are screwed!

Soneson was very helpful and cuts us some slack on grades but I did not like the work load. One week I had to read a chapter on art for a quiz, read literature on a completely different subject for a worksheet, and prepared for an essay test on the entire unit. The class is also very philosophy heavy which I did not like.

I liked Dr. Soneson a lot. I had him for Humanities I Honors, and he is very easy to understand. Apart from the reading (which is a lot, but is bearable), he only gives quizzes and writing exams, both of which he makes very easy to pass. He gives you opportunities to re-write if you want to. Very nice, funny. Tells good stories. SMART: Harvard PhD.

Dr. Soneson is a really cool guy after you get used to him. He lets you re-write you essay tests, gives you at least one free answer on each quiz, and loves to have discussions and tell stories. The worksheets are long though, and the book used is very dry and takes awhile to read. If you read and put work in, he'll go the extra mile for you.

Do not take humanities 1 with this man unless you want to spend 16 weeks talking about the bible. You will have a 10 point quiz every day you have class. He should be a high school teacher.

His lectures are boring and outdated. Has an outline which helps. There is a ton of reading with worksheets and quizes. There is also a ton of writing. He puts words in your mouth during discussions. He laughs all the time and he's not funny. He takes the fun out of History.

He enjoys making the whole class form up into a circle so he can sit in the middle while everyone looks at him. Laughs at himself constantly and his laugh is annoying. Class so boring i counted the times he said "uhh" and in a little over half an hour he said it 127 times.

Very intelligent man. I got a C on the first exam and with the extra credit he gave my grade went up to a B. The final exam I am almost positive I bombed, but once again I did the extra credit, and ended up with a B in the course. The tests are hard, but if you take advantage of the extra credit you should do well.
