Her teaching style is one that has been forgotten by many in this day and age, not only does she truly care for the students but she genuinely hopes to see you do your best so you'll succeed later on. It was the only class that I was actually eager to attend.

I'm just about to finish up having her as a professor. She's extremely nice and among the most helpful professors you could ask for; if you don't do well on an essay, you can come to her office hours and work on it pretty much the entire semester if you really wanted to. WAYYYY too much emphasis on participation, though. But you can email instead.

Utterly horrible teacher. Has done more to kill my interest in history than any person on this planet. Class is boring and useless. Take a practi****section with another teacher if possible. Enough busywork to drown under.

I've had two courses with Dr. H-J. She's nice and helpful, but lacks the storytelling ability of a great history teacher. Her tests are based on key terms, which she gives you beforehand, so know all of them well. She'll look over your essays in office hours, so there's no excuse to bomb one unless you slack off. She gives outlines for her lectures

Lectures are disorganized and boring, you're better off just doing the reading and organizing it by her retarded "key terms" approach to teaching history. Essays are graded on different criteria than any other professor I've ever had but are not hard to do well on. Requires and GRADES discussion in a 70+ person class! Avoid if you can.

Really nice and helpful! Come to class prepared to take notes and do your readings. DO NOT try to leave class early...she'll call you out in front of everybody...and don't come in late, it's rude. Good office hours and will help you as much as she can outside of class. Tests are difficult, so just keep up with ID's throughout the semester.
