First: I did NOTHING online but check my grade (B). Meet once a week and take a quiz after she helps clarify things. AN ABSOLUTE MUST if you have to take STA13. WAY easier than those others (I couldnt understand my last stats prof or TA). but you must READ the book (which isnt bad at all). Mostly a concepts and stats application course. i liked it!

Seriously, 13v > 13. my friend was taking 13 while i was taking the 13v...and yeahhhh man.. i think 13v is way better. just read the book. go to class (b/c..c'mon u only meet once a week). take the quiz. turn in hw. & i'm not going to lie.. ur grade is practically SET. ahh..just take 13V & u'll know what i'm talking about!

Comment:

Utts is extremely nice, and this class is perfect if you are only taking this class because its required. Its much easier than your normal stat class, and because its online (there is not much online), you only meet once a week. For that reason, you have to teach yourself the material, but if you look at the old tests and quizzes, its an easy A.

Comment:

Psychic Claims was the best IS class ever! She really stimulated my interest in scientific research and the study of psychic phenomena. Class is not hard at all. A little confusing on the stats, but the review session before the (easy) quiz was very helpful. Fun projects, interesting guest speakers, cool lady! All in all a great class!

i loved how she actually taught life application statistics, not just the math. she was very helpful in office hours & on a personal level. the final wasn't bad at all & the quizzes aren't hard if you do the homework. the final was open book & notes, and easy if you went to office hours.

Even though the final was really hard, she curves the final class grade a whole letter so basically the final doesn't mean much if you get atleast a C-. So, don't worry if you get a bad grade on the final!

OMG the final is impossible! I had a 85% average going into the final...after the final I had a 77%. The final is worth way too much and even though it's open book and notes, the questions were way too tough for an intro class to statistics.

The online class was great, only had to go once a week! However, if you want to get an A or B, you can never miss a class because there is a quiz every time. She is really nice, but doesn't explain the last chapters at all...I went from A's on the first 6 quizes to C-s on the last two.

This is the best idea I have had at Davis! I reccommend this class to anyone who has to take Stats 13. There is a quiz every week, but no midterms, get to use notes on some, as well as the final, and she helps with anything you need at office hours. Not to mention, you actually LEARN statistics.

Great experience. If you don't need STA 13 and can get away with STA 10 be sure to get Jessica Utts, she is very motivated and enthused about her subject. Knowledgable, and not scary at all. Very helpful, and lenient at times, don't miss this opportunity.

Utts is a super cute lady with bouncy hair. She is very clear and organized, the fact that she teaches from her book makes the lectures go alot easier. She is very good about emails although the TA's are not helpful at all

Half of this class was psychic studies, and half was statistics. It was actually very interesting, and Prof. Jessica was great. I do wish I'd paid a little more attention in class. :)
