Although she appreciates art that I do not (and do not understand), she is a good teacher and will do her best to help you. If you do your best, show up to class, and turn your work in on time, you will get a good grade. She relates this class to the real world and late assignments are not acceptable. Period.

Jiayi is a super intelligent and talented, but I can see how some might feel a little alienated by the pace of the course and/or the "artfulness" to her approach. But she does know her stuff. If you are having trouble with the material, swing by her office hours, and she will gladly help you out in any way she can.

I was taking 4 classes (all 3 credit hrs) and the amount of time required to "keep up" on the assignments for this ONLINE class was more than the other 3 classes combined. This class is for full time students only...not for working adults.

Jiayi demands exceptional artistic intent in her students projects, something I think is out of place in a "beginning class". She also disregarded the bus meeting time and took students into the thick of Castro District on Halloween Night during the Festival of Lights (Fall 2005, I think it was). Wrong approach for this particular offering.

Decent instructor. I wish that this was less artsy class and more technical. I would be able to be more artistic if I knew what I was doing. Having said that, Final Cut is a very difficult program, and she did what she could without overwhelming the student.
