Comment:

Definitely hard on men, and it's obvious there is some baggage from years past. Must work very hard at the relationship with her, and I can assure you there are different courses (different teachers) you could take to achieve your goal. To be fair, she knows her stuff. To be even more fair...I don't think she belongs in an undergrad setting.

Worst teacher I ever had at Coastal. If you are a man, you are in BIG trouble with her and will have to work SO MUCH MORE harder than a woman to get the same grade, and that's if you do. I even took a class in Maymester so I could avoid having to take her in the Fall.

Dr. Sessoms was opinionated and very challenging, but even though my views were starkly different from hers, I grew personally and academically from the discussions those views & our class material prompted. I had Dr. Sessoms for three classes, & she helped me become a better literary critic. I now use those skills as a high school English teacher.

Dont know about hating men but is not that clear in her assignments about what she wants accomplished.does not have a clue how to work blackboard and will not try and help you. is VERY opinionated and thinks she is better that everyone. dont take if you can help it.

Dr. Sessoms gets a bad rap, but the reality is that she is a wonderful teacher. Truely excellent teacher, provokes students to think critically, and inspires them to learn. She is to retire after SPR 10, and for those who never had a chance to take a class with her, it's your loss!!

I have debated for several mothns on whether or not to even write a review, because as sad as it sounds, looking at comments on how she's affected students negatively is probably the highlight of her day. I've never made below a B in any previous course I took as an undergrad,nor currently as a grad student. She gave me a D, and I now teach English

Dr. Sessoms is my favorite professor at Coastal. She is extremely fair with her grading. My favorite class of college was her Holocaust class. If you have the opportunity you must take this class. All interesting material and great discussions. She wants you to work hard but it just makes you a better student!

very opinionated and, as stated by others, seems to be extrememly biased when grading. i made well in her class and consider myself lucky. she expects A LOT from her students and you have to be VERY thorough and clear in your work. not very helpful outside of class, hard to reach by email, and yes, she can sometimes be rude.

She grades by her opinion, not by what is right or wrong. Rude, unhelpful, a useless teacher at CCU. Watch out for her grading because she'll give one person 10 points and the other 2 points even if the answers are the same. I'd flunk out of college before I took her again. If you want to keep your GPA up, DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN!

Dr. Sessoms is the worst teacher I have ever had. She tried to fail me but I had all my grades to prove I was no where close to failing. She still is trying to argue with me that I have an F in the class. She is on such a power trip she cant even say she made a mistake I had to go to her boss to get the grade changed. DO NOT TAKE!

This teacher not only shows no effort to help students out of the classroom but makes students put their social security numbers at the top of tests and not names- claiming so she can not be accused of being bias. Ludicris and none the less she still is obviously bias to certain students.She personally destroyed my self esteem.
