Cohen is amazing! he really helps you understand the material and if you catch him at the math lab its a plus! Go to class, he is always covering new material and u dont want to miss a day. The book cost less than $20. Homework is worth a little bit but there is extra credit with it every time its due. u get a page of notes for every midterm& final

Comment:

Jim's Algebra 2 class was great. He grades homework on completion and briefly checks some problems and there is also extra credit for every assignment. He is also great at teaching math and by far the best math professor I've had. This class is an easy A honestly. Just do the work and study for the few tests he gives.

Honestly Jim is so passionate and caring about his students. Math isn't my strong subject but he really breaks things down in a way that everyone can understand. Sweet, approachable guy. Page of notes for tests, and no question is a dumb question. I've really enjoyed being in his class. Perfect for people who aren't good at math.

I def learned more than what I knew prior to attending the class. Home work is worth minimal points. He is very direct on quizzes and tests so if you dont pass those than you wont pass the class

Jim is the best math teacher I've had. He has a good attitude, makes himself available outside of class (recommend), knows the subject, understands the process of learning, will use multiple methods to match different styles, is clear about what you do and don't need to know for exam time, and prepares you well for the next course in the sequence.

Just finished Calc 2.. He is really good. Way better than any other math prof I took. Go to class, bc learning by yourself makes calc 2 harder than it needs to be. HW is harder than exams, and theres 2 assignments due every week, one online, one in math lab that is handed out in class so if you don't go, you'll miss it. He gives some extra credit..

Cohen is an Amazing professor. Every time something was unclear for me, he would help clarify my questions perfectly! There is both online homework, as well as math lab assignments. Math lab is mandatory, which kinda sucks, but it is really helpful. He allows notes on both quizzes & exams--only one page for exams though. Take him! He is awesome.

Comment:

First off, Cohen shouldn't be teaching upper division math such as Calc 2. Im pretty sure he's great for algebra or precal, however calc 2 he should not be teaching. His lectures were confusing, incomplete, and he consistently made mistakes in them, leaving everyone confused. Only upside to his class is notes allowed for all midterms and quizzes.

He is probably my favorite teacher at LMC. His class made me want to go to math class, yes i said it. I think these bad reviews people are writing are having issues because they cant handle the class. He will go at whatever pace you ask of him. He is always available and you can just tell he enjoys teaching. I wish i could take him for every class!

You do khan assignments. he has great teaching skills in lectures. Straightforward in the concepts, Not only can you pass by committing but he's there to help. His class work prepares you for after school assignments. He maintains positive attitude till the end, helps learn in applying the curriculum. Be there everyday b.c. tests are from lectures

I have math anxiety, but his class has really helped me feel more confident about my math skills. Jim is very helpful and always tries to make sure you don't feel stupid for not understanding. He's super encouraging and will push you so you don't fall behind. I have taken Math 30 at lmc twice before with other teachers, and he is the best I've had.

Cohen is really thorough with his teachings, he makes sure you understand. you have to go to class if you don't understand algebra 2 already like i did and you have to do the homework, its practice. if you do the homework in the mathlab you will understand and do well on tests

This teacher can be summed up as somebody who has high intelligencepassion in math but has zero wisdom in how to be a proper teacher. He is only useful for teaching in a university setting since he does not know how to properly teach beginners. watch as you work hard in class on a daily basis while people who barely show up to class gets an A.

This guy is nice as a person. But his system just didn't work with me. The way he taught was too hard for me to keep up with. Hw had to be absolutely perfect when you turn it in otherwise you had to fix it and do it again. I had to drop cause I couldn't keep up. He was very nice though. I wouldn't recommend him for those who need a slower pace.

Loved this class! He really cares about his students and will bend over backwards for them and help them when they ask. He's very knowledgeable and goes at a good pace, but some people can get lost if they don't attend regularly. He lets you use notes on the midterms(2), accepts late work, and is an easy grader. I highly recommend him.

WORST class ive ever taken. I never understood the work because he was a horrible teacher! I had to get outside help. Barely did HW but I did really good on the tests. The only reason I got a B in this class was because I spent countless hours outside of class time learning the material &studying it ON MY OWN. He does not explain things well at all

very fair teacher, really relaxed about homework due dates, always gives u review sheets before quizes & tests. & gives u notes to help with ur homework! his homework grading is hard and kind of frustrating at times but you are learning from it.

I have taken every math class possible at LMC with Jim. He is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. He has no problem explaining the same things to you repeatedly and does whatever it takes to help you understand and succeed in his class if you put forth at least SOME effort! HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!
