I had Dodd for ACCT 41 and 42. He's a nice enough guy. I wouldn't really be able to say if he's "good" or not because I learned most of what we did in these classes in high school, so it was pretty easy for me.

Worst teacher I have ever had at Drake. His whole philosophy is "you teach yourself." Which is fine...but NOT when it comes to Statements of Cash Flows. I worked upwards of 20 hours a week on this one class. Not worth it. He doesn't help you and he just enjoys tricking you.

Dodd is turning into an old man. He's becoming cynical, forgetful, and overall just not a good professor any more. I say "any more" because I took an accounting class from him Freshman year, one Sophomore year, and now one Junior year, and he has gotten steadily worse. Do not recommend.

Relatively hard class. Complete Monopoly simulation - he kind of throws you in it and expects you to learn on the way. Half of class after Monopoly is boooring, TESTS on PP slides on final that no 1 had paid attn to. Final group project - presentation & budget - hard, unclear expectations. Needs to go back into the field & get new experience.

Professor Dodd is not an educator. He may be very familiar with the material himself, but his ability to teach it is lacking. He is arrogant and expects students to just pick up difficult concepts easily and is not there to help when it is needed. He is a distant prof. to his students and doesn't even try to at least learn your name.

exams usually are comprised of 25 multiple choice problems and 2-3 long problems..if you miss 3 or more multiple choice questions you're already out of an A range. he writes the exams and they are confusing...lectures are boring as f*ck and useless..homework is done online and isn't helpful..i got an A by buying the optional study guide. book sucks

Extremely nice guy - comes across as cocky to begin with but almost always attempts to come across as nice and caring. Class is not always worth going to as he just goes over power points that are available online. An A is possible due to many easy homework assignment and fair tests.

Dodd is great. He really knows what he is talking about. He is a great teacher. He tries to be funny sometimes, but at least he is trying. If you have prior knowledge of Accounting, Dodd is for you, If not, you might want to take someone else.

I agree with everyone that he is ARROGANT! Having said that, he knows his stuff and teaches it well. He goes over his assignments very thoroughly, but you need to PAY ATTENTION. I got an A on his portion of the class, but I worked my butt of preparing for his test. He makes you work extremely hard, but A is possible.

He is a terrible person in general. He is unapproachable and distant. He goes the whole semester without knowing student's names. He does lecture from Power Points that he puts on blackboard. However, he does overuse blackboard by making students post questions or answers, instead of allowing students to do so. Students just post to get the points.
