Very knowledgeable about material and helpful in lecture, however, he does not like to be challenged by students. Attire is reminiscent of Dad-wear. Excellent collection of ties. He is persistent in wanting students to know the "five most important things" about any and all things. Very AWKWARD. Also beware when he wears his kilt.

Actually demands that students think critically and defend their arguments. If he disagrees with your position, he will debate with you. He does respect differing views and encourages independent thought, just expects logic and substance in their defense.

Dr. Ford's class will not be easy, but learning usually comes with work. I enjoyed taking Comparative Religion with him - he wasn't as scary as I had expected :)

If you want to walk away feeling like you learned nothing but did an excruciating amount of work, then by all means take this class with Dr. Ford. I only got an A because I know how to BS a good paper and say what teachers want to hear. If he would just explain things, he could be an amazing teacher.Right now I think he is just too unclear

He was unsure how to teach the class. He cares about his students, but it is difficult to understand what he wants you to learn at times.

I am currently in Ford ?comparative religion? class for the summer. I was excited to take this class but once I challenged his grading scale and his thoughts about certain assignments and from that point on I received ?f?s on every assignment there after. He is not very clear on what he wants out of the assignments; he ask for one thing and than ex

He is a very rude man, he threw my paper in my face because of my religious beliefs. He wants you to give tell him what you believe but he will not give you a good grade if you don't believe like him. I did not like him. He ruined a very interesting class.

Totally pathetic teacher. He'll lower your grade if a paper is 5 minutes late and then take (literally!) a month to get it graded. Plays favorites with students. I got an A in his class and still don't know how or why. His grading of written stuff makes no sense.

Difficult to approach with questions. Difficult to approach for any reason. Maybe he's intelligent, but what good is that when your students can't voice their own opinions and get polite feedback.

Dr. Ford is a really awesome professor. I have had him twice, and each class was great. He's very intelligent and really knows his stuff. You will learn a lot if you are willing to work for your grade, which he expects. And he is very easy to talk to and will gladly offer help if you ask.

If you are willing to think for yourself and then back it up, then Ford is delighfully knowledgeable and thought provoking. He is very fair, but strict when students come with false ideologies and try to stand for them without any philosophical thought.

This was a very interesting class and I loved it. It focuses much more on literature than anything else. Be prepared to read (and think) a lot every week, but you will learn a lot in this class. Do not take it if you haven't taken Comp yet.

The positive aspect is that you will be challenged in the class. The negative aspect of his class is that he does not always communicate clearly with his students what his objectives are. I did not find that he favors independent thought.

Dr. Ford is incredibly smart and displays it in class. He forces students to participate by asking thought-provoking questions over reading assignments. There were 4 essays and a project in intro to philosophy.

If you don't agree with him or are not one of his "favorites" watch out. He plays favoritism and does not explain things clearly. He is an intelligent man, but not the greatest professor.
