Dr. Heflin is simply out dated. His teaching style is ineffective, he is too comfortable sharing personal information. His test don't reflect his lecture or the study "guide" he gives. Any complaints or suggestions give to him from student or faculty is ignored. He needs to stop.

Everything I've needed this semester was posted on Blackboard which is helpful. The classes ARE difficult but out of all three courses I've taken with him, I've never walked away without an A. He says attendance is mandatory but I've surpasses the max amount of absences and he never said anything. All in all, I like him a lot and would retake.

Dr. Heflin is the best professor I've had at Cameron. He gives good feedback that can be used for your personalprofessional development. I found his class a bit challenging but at least I felt like I was actually learning. He is extremely friendly and easy-going, making the class more relaxed and facilitating discussions.

He is a good proffessor. He advises you on on speeches and encourages visits to his office. He is really laid back and make the room comfortable. He questions you after each speech to see how much you know about the subject. He is carring and laid back but willing to teach and help with the right stuff. He is great overall

Dr. Heflins online speech class leaves alot for you to figure out on your own. I dont think that it is very well laid out and he is not very helpfull in answering questions.

IPC is the worst class I have ever taken in the communication department. Dr. Heflin is NOT a good teacher. His tests are ridiculous. 3/4 of that study guide isn't on the test, the most random thing in the text will be worth the most points, & know every list in the powepoint. He may not pronounce your name correctly, despite your corrections.

Comment:

Class on Interpersonal Communications was very interesting. Almost therapy. Really helped me to shake bad relationships and find good relationships. Hard tests and a huge paper at the end. He will help you get it, but you have to put out an effort. Suitable for Senior course. Just dont take too many other hard classes.

He is a lttle bit eccentric or scatter brained. He is very freindly and knows his subject. His tests are quite difficult in his non-general education classes. He seems emotionaly involved with his work (I think it may be that if you hurt his feelings you grade may be affected).

I love Dr. Heflin. He is such a cute older man. I had him many years ago, but I still remember some of the concepts he taught about and benefit from them today. He likes you to be introspective and learn about yourself. Just be open to that and ready to THINK and you will learn a lot.
