I think he's a great teacher!! As I hear, after my class section, things began to go downhill, but that's surprising to me. The class is huge, & it would be difficult for ANYONE to teach that class. If you go to class & pay attention, you can get a lot of good information out of it and receive an A. Unfortunately, the class changes per semester.

Manley seems like an interesting, fun guy. However, he tends to play favorites and is very unhelpful if you have a problem. He's almost unapproachable at times. He also makes you feel bad if you don't give up your Friday's to volunteer at Star School.

I was incredibly excited for this class at the beginning of the year but I was incredibly disappointed. The class was disorganized and it was very hard to follow. I thought the groups were a good idea but not implemented correctly. The quizzes were very difficult and didn't follow along with class or the book we were required to read.

Great class. COnfusing at times but still intriguing. A look into what being a teacher means. Manley is awesome. He has stopped swearing in class but still tells tons of stories and is so funny. Great class and teacher

Great, passionate teacher! He truly loves what he does and cares about every student in his class. It is a huge lecture hall, so unless you make an effort, he won't know your name, but if you talk to him he'll know you. He's super personable and gets really well known guest speakers. Highly recommend this class even if you aren't an education major

Comment:

Mr. Manley is probably the most loving teacher I've ever met. He wants to get to know each student and has unorthodox yet effective methods. I have spent a great deal of time with him outside of class and would gladly be a TA for what I genuinely feel is the best class I've ever taken. It goes beyond education and deals with life itself.

I got to know him outside of class and he's a great guy! Extremely passionate about what he does. The only problem I think he had was that he would kinda get off track with his stories and run out of time to do actual class stuff. Other than that he's awesome, and really try to get to know him because he really cares about his students.

This class was the best EDF 200 class I could have chosen. I was a little disappointed with how unorganized the class was. There were tons of people in charge of your grades and you never knew what to expect. The content was awesome though and I recommend the class. Great way to get an easy a if you keep on top of crew jobs and class work. Mr. Manley is very passionate about his job.

First of all, Dr. Manley would do anything for any one of his students. I have personally seen him put students before his own family. He is unconventional in teaching style, but listen to what he has to say and get to know him. You won't regret it.

He is okay. Funny personality, and full of stories and life. But he is slightly inapproriate. He curses all the time, which is something that is not okay in my book. So with that big factor, is was very hard to concentrate and fully enjoy the class. My group leader sucked, and he never did anything about her, so that was annoying too. Nice guy.

I had a EDF 200 with Jim and I am now working as an elementary school teacher in Flag. His tactics are unconventional and seemingly chaotic from the perspective of a person who has never taught, but his lessons have been fine tuned over many years of practice. He is an eccentric master who freely and effortlessly elicits the best in his students

I LOVE THIS CLASS. He genuinley cares about his students. Guest Speakers every class are never boring. Book isn't really needed. Quizes almost every class but you could fail them all and still get an A as long as you do ALL of your other work.

I started out loving this class I thought Manley set it up very well but as the semester went on he just was pushing all of his views on the class that had nothing to do with teaching. He is unapproachable if you have a problem he wont work with you to fix it. I was looking forward to this class and he is all over the place I cant follow one word.

What can I say about Jim Manley that hasn't already been said? He is so passionate about the teaching profession, and because I had him as a teacher, I am more sure than ever that Education is the right field for me.
