Does not reply to emails or when I put a question in the student help forum. Assigns homework the day before the morning of the due date.. As if we don't have work or other classes? Easy material if I could get a chance to go over it before it's due..

DO NOT TAKE MCCLURES CLASS. His tests were too hard compared to the practice. You could never gage what would be on a quiz. His on-line lectures were long and unhelpful. He did not respond to questions in a helpful or timely fashion. Grades took way too long to be posted. Do NOT take him!

I honestly was really excited to take this class. but Prof McClure is the kind of teacher that I NEVER want to be. He makes a lot of things confusing. If you don't get what's going on he won't make you feel good about it at all. He likes to ask a lot of questions and if you don't answer he is going to be pissed. He hates when people don't do h.w.

I feel like he tries to help students understand, but by doing so he actually confused me more than before. Study before every class and stay on top of the homework. Tests and quizzes were extremely difficult. Take this professor if you want to learn - I definitely learned a lot about grammar throughout the course!

In my four years at OU, I have never had such an awful professor. He is rude and condescending because he thinks everyone should understand everything just because he does. He doesn't give feedback on assignments so you will never know what to improve for the next paper. AVOID HIM IF YOU CAN. I have never been so unhappy with a professor.

I had a very hard time with this Professor. He thinks that because he understands it all that everyone does. I went to him for help and he sent me to the Writing Center instead. I taught myself from the textbooks. His quizzes and tests presented material that hadn't been completely covered in class and sentences that were confusing and difficult.

Not sure why some folks complain. This guy is clear, interesting, and kind to a fault. The workload for this online class was average to light and grading is very fair; even generous. I've been able to stay near 4.0 thus far, not expending a great deal of effort. Of course you will have to engage, as with all upper level classes at OU.

Terrible! He walks into class humming an whistling everyday which is so annoying. He yelled at students for be too loud coming into class 3 min late, then the next day he was late. He calls you stupid. Thinks everyone knows how to diagram complex sentences. I could go on all day on how I can't wait till i am out of his class. He is very degrading.

Throughout the class, he had two favorite students in which he constantly said to them, "You're the best!" (Exact words) and absolutely nothing encouraging like that to anyone else. EVER. He straight out told me he didn't like my material. When I asked for feedback, he simply didn't respond. Tells the class what to do but not how.

2nd online class w/ prof. Organization and clarity sometimes lacking, but straightfoward material. He gets a bad rep b/c ppl hate the subject, but he genuinely wants you to learn and has been so accommodating and helpful to me. Contact him w. any genuine concern & he will try to help. Just be respectful and give him a chance! Really nice guy!

I took this class online, and McClure's assignments were difficult to understand. The quizzes are unfair, a set of 10 multiple question choices, but all the choices sound the same. His lack of communication to the class was a heavy downfall to this class.

I got an A in this class, but only because I've had previous languages as well as intense classes in high school. Many people struggled. If you don't have the work ethic to teach yourself, good luck. He goes on tangents and takes up class time. He loves the subject and knows the subject, and he is a good guy, but a lot of class time is eaten up.

Took this class online. McClure was a bit difficult to understand at times and seemed to lack patience and humor. Overall, I learned A LOT in his class but if I could redo it, I would have taken the class in person.

A poor communicator, McClure is of the I-already-understand-this-why-don't-you school of teaching. He is prone to tangents and tirades which take away from class instruction time. He does curve genrously, but this would not be necessary if he were a clearer instructor. Avoid.

Professor McClure was great! I heard that he was hard before I started and he actually told my class that people had put horrible reviews on here about him and that he kills gpa's. This is not true AT ALL. He graded extremely fairly, sometimes overly fairly with extreme curves. Take notes and attend class! He is a great teacher!

I was terrified to attend his class after reading all of the awful reviews on this site, but I had absolutely no reason to. Professor McClure is a fantastic teacher. As long as you attend class regularly and pay attention, you'll do fine. All of this is nonsense about him being a "GPA killer" - I passed his class with a 4.0!

This guy was a complete jerk! He was never available and he doesn't respond to emails so don't even try. Also, he is not the best at explaining things which is not good! I would not reccommend him if my life depended on it. He words his tests rudely also.

ENG 215 is a fairly difficult class. I am a straight A student and I squeaked by with a C+. Professor McClure is sometimes frustrating and it is hit or miss whether or not his explanations will help you understand the material. It is definitely necessary to stay caught up with the reading and attend class.
