This guy knows his stuff. However, if you take any of his classes be sure to stay up on the reading and I would recommend the discussions. If you're not a bio anth or hard science kid you will probably have trouble following the class without either of those two things.

Comment:
Great class - but would caution people thinking of taking it. It is fascinating and exciting only for someone who is enthusiastic about the material. Moore is great to students who are on time, focused, and up to date on reading, but he will show no mercy to anyone disorganized or giving excuses. Interest - YES, Requirement - NO

I do not like this guy, I took this class because I HAD TO. Anthro GE Requirement. Horrible man, like everyone said, extremely arrogant (often brags about his harvard PhD). He is also extremely disorganized and unapproachable to students.

Comment:
Mixed Reviews eh? He's not clear because he leaves room for interpretation/argument. Disorganized? He's just aloof. He respects different perspectives and is hesitant to spout any dogma. For class, he won't just give you lines to memorize, he wants to make you think about the material abstractly. He's for a student who can think outside the box.

Jim Moore is a good professor however he goes over the material quite fast and reading is required to ace the tests.

film clips are cool and lectures are online. Tests are hard (gives quote from reading and ask what author means) and a couple mult. choice. Gives a week to do a paper assignment 2000-4000 words in addition to reading assignments and study for final. If you dont need the class, dont take it!

He is very arrogant. His assignments are not clear. He is disorganized and has a ton of excuses for not being ready to teach the class right away. He assigned a 2500 word paper 5 days before the final, along with a shorter paper due that same week. He also had mandatory group projects where your grade depends on the work of others.

This guy is just insane. He is not clear about anything, his idea of a short paper is 2000-4000 words and provides you with a week to do it. His tests are super hard and asks some of the most detailed and mundained questions. Overall, he is just not good!

This guy is the rudest, most arrogant man at UCSD. I never had a class with him, but I did go to him for career advice and have never been so disappointed with someone in my life. ****.

Very unclear about expectations for the class, not helpful at all during office hours, grades are completely unknown until they are posted online. Definitely has an ego problem and is a complete space-case

One of my favorite professors at UCSD. His class was extremely interesting (even the reading materials) and I learned more (and more interesting things) in that one quarter of lower div anthro than in most of my upper div classes.
